Overview: Crippling snowstorm expected across southeast Virginia and
portions of northeast NC. Periods of heavy snow also push as far inland a
Richmond and north to Maryland. Some uncertainty remains in exact
snow totals north and west of Richmond.
Period of greatest impact: Late tonight through Saturday.
Impacts:
Snow late tonight and Saturday morning will be heavy at
times across southeast VA and northeast NC.
Heavy snow and gusty winds along the coast may result
in some spotty power outages blizzard conditions in
areas of heaviest snow.
Expect rapid accumulations late tonight and Saturday
morning. Due to bitterly cold temperatures, expect
prolonged hazardous travel conditions into Sunday and
Monday.
