Sunken ships and boats crushed into kindling are tes monies to what the lake can do. The readings of this Sunday evoke our memories of the lake, of the mighty Mississippi River, or of the ocean itself. Who but God can control these mighty waters and set limits to their advance? The lake described in today’s Gospel was a body of water subject to sudden storms and churned into dangerous waves by terrible winds. But these mighty agents are subject to God. The sailor and the fisher all respect the water. Even more, they respect the awesome power of the Maker of wind and sea. copyright © J. S. Paluch Co. Living God’s Word When we find ourselves being brought to a new place in life, we o en presume that the new des na on will be clear before us and without turmoil. Yet crossing to the other side of anything is always unse ling. In the end faith does not just claim our insides for the dura on of the journey. Faith is the strength and wisdom we have knowing that Christ is in our boat. copyright © 2014, World Library Publications. We invite you to make me for Him in Adora on. Blessed Mother Teresa once said, “Every Holy Hour we make so pleases the Heart of Jesus…” HE does so much for you all year! Don’t be too busy to stop and say ‘HI.’ Stop by before or a er work. If you are home for the summer, bring your children and let them have a peaceful experience with Our Lord. They will learn the power of prayer and realize how wonderful it feels to sit in silence. Any amount of me is special. It doesn’t have to be for a whole hour. If you happen to be able to commit to an hour please let us know. We desperately need scheduled adorers. Please use the computer to sign in, either as a visitor or adorer, so we know someone was with HIM. The mes below are empty and many other mes only have one person so we need Adorers this summer! “I’ve been bringing some of my 4th grade students during their snack me on Monday’s and they love it! They never let me forget that it’s me to pick 5 people to go to the chapel. They would bring their personal inten ons and those on our prayer board. Many students would comment on how peaceful it was and that they could ‘hear’ Jesus! We all need this in our life!” Linda Schildwachter Isn’t it possible for you to come to Adora on? How does our parish a ract inquirers each year who consider becoming Catholic? The short answer is you! When any parish has many inquirers year a er year, it is the fruit of the Holy Spirit as parish members open their hearts to welcome others. Members of a welcoming and evangelizing community take seriously their call to share the Divine message of salva on. It happens in parish families, in the workplace, in gatherings with friends and neighbors, and in daily contacts. Give thanks to God as he con nuously strengthens each of us who seek to do his will in o ering a gentle, humble, and clear welcome to the Catholic faith. “Go out into the whole world and proclaim the Gospel to every creature.” (Mark 16:15) Prayer for Protection from Storms God our Father, Creator of the Universe and Lord over all creation, we humbly stand before you as your children in thanksgiving for your loving care and protection. We ask that you keep us safe from all hurricanes which may threaten us in the coming seasons. Protect us from all fear and anxiety of storms and give us an ardent trust and hope in Your love and mercy. You alone have the power to command the sea, the wind and the rain. You alone bring peace, calm, and safety. Father, we thank you in advance, for you are our only Refuge. We ask this through Christ, Your Son, Who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen. Mary, Queen of the Apostles, and Patroness of our Diocese, pray for us.
