CARNIVAL DAY
The build up to the evening parade starts early on Carnival Day.
From 10am in the morning the streets in the town centre
come alive with the sounds of samba, marching bands,
groups and choirs, whilst there is a real buzz of fun from
the various street performers. There’s live music on the
Cornhill stage, in Angel Place Shopping Centre and at St
Mary’s Church, a children’s parade in the afternoon and
a whole host of other activities to get you in the mood for
the illuminated procession.
Come to the town early and join in the party!
FIREWORKS
For centuries the spectacular simultaneous squibbing
display has brought Bridgwater Guy Fawkes
Carnival to a dramatic climax. This ancient
tradition takes place in the town’s High Street
approximately 15 minutes after
the end of the parade. Nowhere
else in the world stages such an
amazing event. When it comes
to fireworks there’s really nothing

event you must not miss! The atmosphere is amazing, the carnival carts
electrifying and the entertainment brilliant!
The anticipation starts early when the massive carnival carts begin to
assemble at the line-up area in readiness for the parade. As day becomes
evening the powerful generators kick into action bringing the carts alive with
thousands and thousands of lights and massive sound systems start blaring
out their evocative music.
At 7pm the parade sets off from Parkway and winds its way through the
streets of Bridgwater creating a spectacle that amazes and enthralls the
audience. It is a sight to behold …… Seeing is Believing!
