Sew one 3" Fabric F square across the diagonal to upper left corner of one 10-1/2" Fabric A square. Press open and trim to 1/4" seam. Repeat for remaining 3 corners. Make 5 squares. 2. Sew a 3" Fabric square to left and right sides of a 3" x 5-1/2" Fabric E strip. Repeat to make 10 units. 3. Sew step 2 units to top and bottom of step 1 squares, for a total of 5 Block A units. Block B Construction: 4. Sew a 3" x 5-1/2" Fabric C strip to top and bottom of a 5-1/2 x 10-1/2" Fabric B strip. Repeat to make a total of 4 units. 5. Sew a 3" x 15-1/2" Fabric F strip to left and right sides of a step 4 unit. Repeat to make 4 Block B units. Quilt Top Construction: 6. Referring to Quilt Diagram, sew Block A and Block B units together. First and third rows begin with Block A, second row begins with Block B. Make three rows, then sew rows together. First Border: 7. Sew two 3" x 15-1/2" Fabric F strips end to end to a 3" x 15-1/2" Fabric D strip. Repeat to make two side borders. Sew to sides of quilt top. 8. Sew two 3" x 10-1/2" Fabric F strips end to end to a 3" x 10-1/2" Fabric D strip. Sew a 3" Fabric D square to each end of border unit. Repeat to make top and bottom borders. Sew to top and bottom of quilt top. Second Border: 8. Sew one each 5-1/2" x 50-1/2" Fabric H strip to both sides of quilt top. 9. Sew one each 5-1/2" x 45-1/2" Fabric H strip to top and bottom to complete the quilt. Finishing: Layer, quilt and bind as desired.
