The purpose of this book is to provide some advance insight into 2010 model year Ford
Truck product features that may assist final stage manufacturers and vehicle alteration
companies in preparing their production process. This book is for reference only, reflecting
information available as of June 2009, and is subject to change without notice. It should be
used in conjunction with other related Ford publications listed below. Methods to obtain

2010 MY E-Series – New FMVSS Requirements
FMVSS 201U: Interior head impact requirement for incomplete/ altered vehicles.
Effective: Vehicles built on/ or after 09/01/2009.
Vehicle Applicability: Any final stage upfit or alteration performed on a Cutaway or
Van/ Wagon at 10,000 lbs. GVWR or less with the following exemptions: School bus or any
bus configuration w/ 10,000 lbs. GVWR or less or Stripped Chassis models.
Important:
Ford has tested their Cutaways, Vans/ Wagons at 10,000 lbs. GVWR or less. These vehicles as
built, meet the 201U requirements. However, any upfit or alteration which affects the function,
location or structural characteristics of any upper interior trim component will need to be
recertified. Also, any added components must conform to the 201U requirements where
applicable. See 2010 MY incomplete Vehicle Manual for more details.
FMVSS 301: Fuel system integrity for Incomplete/ Altered Vehicles
Effective: Vehicles built on/ or after 09/01/2009.
For 2010MY E-Series Job #1 additional Chassis components are being added for, which will
require IVM installation, for FMVSS 301 pass thru compliance on E350 SRW/ DRW Cutaways
(School Bus and Non School Bus) and Stripped Chassis models. See examples below

pass thru compliance. Please refer to the Incomplete Vehicle Manual or contact the Body
Builders Advisory Service for more information.

F59 Commercial Stripped Chassis
The 2011MY Ford F59 is derived from our #1 Selling Class A Motorhome chassis.
Drivers are provided a full complement of message center features including: engine
hour meter, distance-to-empty, average fuel economy, outside air temperature and
system check. Available in a wide range of GVWR’s and wheelbases.
This commercial stripped chassis is built to reduce maintenance costs, with rear-axle
“lubed for life” lubrication, high-efficiency internal trans filter with 60,000-mile service
interval, engine features like fail-safe cooling system and 100,000-mile tune-up interval.
In addition, the F-59 chassis meets the new Heavy Duty Final Gas Emissions standards.
