How the RoamEO SeekR Works
The RoamEO SeekR uses GPS technology to locate and track your dog’s movements.
The system acquires precise location data from the constellation of GPS satellites
circling the earth to pinpoint your pet’s exact location. The Collar Transmitter attached
to your dog’s existing collar sends its location data to the Handheld Receiver via a
proprietary radio circuit where a firmware algorithm triangulates the data and displays
your dog’s location in real time. The system automatically updates the GPS data and
the Handheld Receiver continually displays the new location information.
The RoamEO SeekR also includes many features designed for active dogs and their
owners. Refer to the Create GPS Fence section for instructions on building any one of
three different geo-perimeter options. The ShadowFence Tracking Screen creates a
circular GPS perimeter that follows your movements, ideal for walking or hiking with
your dog. The Home feature will commit a GPS waypoint to system memory, great for
guiding you back to a specific location such as a car or campsite. This is helpful in
environments where the terrain may be harsh or unfamiliar.

Quickstart Guide
Get to Know Your System
Your RoamEO SeekR system consists of a Handheld Receiver and a GPS Collar
Transmitter that work together to track your dog’s activity in real time using GPS
technology.
The Handheld Receiver calculates your pet’s location based on data from the GPS

Collar Transmitter and then displays your dog’s movements on the color LCD. You can
select from any one of three tracking screens to view your pet’s location, making it
simple to track your dog in any environment.
The GPS Collar Transmitter attaches to your dog’s existing collar and continuously
transmits its location data to the Handheld Receiver. The Transmitter is waterproof and
is designed for use in rain, snow, mud or any other harsh conditions your dog will
encounter.
The USB Wall Charger and the charging cable are used for charging both the Handheld
Receiver and GPS Collar Transmitter.
The GPS Collar Transmitter attaches to your dog’s
existing collar using the ¾” or 1” clips.
The Handheld Receiver will display your
pet’s location on one of three
user-selectable tracking screens.
The USB Wall Charger is used to charge both the
Handheld Receiver and GPS Collar Transmitter.

Create a GPS Fence
The GPS Fence feature is a user-defined geo-fence perimeter that provides an audible
alert on your Handheld device should your pet exit the established boundary. The
RoamEO SeekR system provides three options for building a geo-fence:
* Circular: User creates a circular perimeter around a center GPS waypoint.
* Four-sided: User creates a four-sided perimeter around a center GPS waypoint.
* Custom: User creates a custom perimeter by establishing GPS fence posts around a
designated area.
Before creating any of the geo-fence options, please note the following
recommendations:
* Determine the size of the perimeter you desire, noting any landmarks, streets,
property boundaries or other areas of concern. It is best to walk the actual perimeter
you want to establish to make sure it works for your situation. For a Custom geo-fence,
PetTronix RoamEO SeekR Owners Manual
17
it can be helpful to set markers to designate the location of the specific fence posts
you wish to establish before actually creating the fence on your system.
* The smallest diameter for a Circular geo-fence and the smallest width for a
Four-sided geo-fence are both 50 feet.
* It is helpful to have knowledge of any critical distances before you create your
geo-fence perimeter. Take note of the location of streets, property lines or any other
areas you wish to keep your pet out of. In general, the accuracy of a GPS waypoint can
vary between 6 -10 feet. Therefore, we recommend setting a perimeter at least 20-30
feet away from sensitive areas if possible. This will allow you enough time to react
should your pet exit the perimeter in that area.
Building a Circular or Four-sided fence
The Circular and Four-sided GPS fences are created by establishing a geo-perimeter
around a center GPS waypoint. Only the Handheld Receiver is required to create a
geo-fence perimeter.
1. Move to the spot that is the center of your geo-fence perimeter. If possible, make sure the Handheld Receiver has a
clear view of the sky, minimizing foliage, buildings and other obstructions.

Frequently Asked Questions
What type of set-up is required for the RoamEO SeekR system?
The RoamEO SeekR will begin tracking your dog immediately when powered up. The
only set-up required is to attach the GPS Collar Transmitter on your pet’s existing collar.
Is there a service plan required to use the RoamEO SeekR?
No. The RoamEO SeekR GPS Pet Tracking system is a subscription-free system that
does not require access to the cellular infrastructure. Because the RoamEO SeekR does
not use wireless services, the system can be used anywhere you go, outside areas of
limited or no cell coverage.
Is the RoamEO SeekR safe for my pet?
The RoamEO SeekR uses a proprietary radio circuit to transmit location data between
the GPS transmitter on your dog’s collar and our Handheld Receiver. Each of these
location transmissions is measured in milliseconds so the amount of energy emitted is
almost negligible. The total exposure your dog would experience could vary from
seconds per day if the system is used primarily in passive tracking mode to a couple of
minutes per day if the system is actively tracking your dog. Because the radio circuit
emits much less power than a cell phone, in practical terms your dog will be exposed
to more energy from a brief cell phone call made in his proximity than from using our
system for an entire day.
How accurate is the location data?
The GPS technology used in the RoamEO SeekR is rated for 2 -3 meter accuracy.
Accuracy can be affected by the environment in which the system is being used. Heavy
foliage or other over head obstructions will diminish the quality of the GPS signal.
Expect slower GPS lock times and reduced accuracy in these situations. In
environments where the system has an unobstructed view of the sky, the GPS signal is
more robust, resulting in improved accuracy.
Does GPS work in inclement weather?
Rain or snow will have a minimal to no effect on GPS performance.
PetTronix RoamEO SeekR Owners Manual
29
Does the GPS Collar Transmitter device attach to my dog’s existing collar?
Yes. The Collar Transmitter will attach to your dog’s existing collar by using clips that
are provided with your system. The clips are designed to be used with collars with a
width of one inch or less. Refer to Attaching GPS Collar Transmitter section for
instructions.
How many dogs can I track at one time on the Handheld Receiver?
The Handheld Receiver can track two dogs simultaneously. Each GPS Collar
Transmitter is color coded on the LCD screen to make it easier to distinguish when you
are tracking more than one dog. Refer to the Sync Collar section for instructions on
syncing a collar to your Handheld Receiver.
Is the GPS Collar Transmitter waterproof?
Yes. Our GPS Collar Transmitter is sealed with a high performance thermoplastic
material and is IP67 rated to withstand the outdoor elements including water, snow,
mud and wet or damp conditions. The GPS Collar Transmitter can be cleaned with
soap and water as desired.
Does the GPS Collar Transmitter have a correction stimulus?
There is no stimulus feature on the GPS Collar Transmitter.
What type of batteries does the system use?
The RoamEO SeekR uses rechargeable batteries for both the Handheld Receiver and
the GPS Collar Transmitter. A wall charger and cable is provided with the system. The
charge time for both devices is approximately two hours.
Does the RoamEO SeekR have a geo-fencing feature?
Yes. The RoamEO SeekR provides three options for building geo-fence shapes: circular,
four-sided and custom. All three geo-fence options are created by establishing GPS
waypoints. The Circular and Four-sided geo-fences are built around a center GPS
waypoint; the Custom geo-fence uses a series of GPS waypoints to create a perimeter
of any shape. The Handheld Receiver will provide an audible alarm if your dog exits a
defined perimeter. Refer to the Create GPS Fence section for instructions on building a
geo-fence.

Does the Handheld Receiver work indoors?
In most cases, yes, but the type of structure will impact the performance. In general,
GPS lock times will be slower and RF performance will be reduced from inside
structures. Structures with large amounts of metal or houses with stucco exteriors will
have a greater affect on system performance. If possible, placing the Handheld
Receiver in the window will allow for better reception and could improve performance.
Troubleshooting
Please refer to this section for answers to common issues that you may experience
with the RoamEO SeekR system. Please contact Customer Service or visit our website
at www.PetTronix.com for additional support.
My system is not tracking my pet.
If you do not see your pet’s location on the tracking screen, then one of two conditions
exists: 1) the RF link between the Collar Transmitter and the Handheld Receiver has
been lost, or 2) one or both of the devices has lost its GPS lock.
1. Verify the Collar Transmitter is powered on.
2. Verify the Collar Transmitter is synced to your Handheld Receiver.
3. Check the RF icon for the Collar Transmitter. A red RF icon indicates the
Handheld Receiver and Collar Transmitter are not communicating.
4. Check the GPS icon for the Handheld Receiver. A red GPS icon indicates there is
not a GPS lock.
5. Check the GPS icon for the Collar Transmitter. A red GPS icon indicates there is
not a GPS lock.
My Handheld Receiver will not acquire a GPS lock.
For optimal GPS performance, it is best for the Handheld Receiver have a clear view of
the sky. If possible, move to a spot that allows the best view of an unobstructed sky,
away from any over head obstructions and as far as possible from buildings and power
lines. If no GPS lock is acquired after a few minutes, reset the Handheld Receiver by
powering the unit off, waiting for one minute, and powering the unit back on.
One of my devices lost its GPS lock.
Depending on the environment where your system is being used, it may not be
unusual to lose a GPS lock temporarily. The system will continue to search for satellites

and will acquire a GPS lock again automatically at which time tracking will resume
promptly.
1. If the condition persists, power down and re-start the device that is not acquiring
a lock.
2. Check the orientation of the Collar Transmitter and adjust if necessary according
to the instructions in Attaching the GPS Collar Transmitter.
3. Are there over head obstructions in the area that would affect GPS performance?
If possible, move to an area that has a clear view of the sky, away from dense foliage
or buildings.
I do not have an RF link between my Handheld Receiver and the Collar Transmitter.
The strength and quality of the RF link is dependent on the environment where your
system is being used. If the RF link is lost, the Handheld Receiver will display the last
known location of your pet before communication was lost. The system will continue
to broadcast data and will automatically link the moment communication is restored
and new location information will be displayed immediately.
1. If the Handheld Receiver is indoors, place it as close to a window as possible to
improve reception. Note: if you are in a building with stucco siding, RF performance
will be affected dramatically.
2. If you are outdoors, moving to the highest point of your surroundings will
improve broadcast performance. If that is not possible, holding the Handheld
Receiver high in the air can improve performance.
3. If you believe your pet is out of range, move toward the last displayed location on
the Handheld Receiver. At any time if the combination of movements of you and
your pet bring you back within range, the system will immediately display your pet’s
current location information and begin tracking again.
My system does not charge when plugged into the USB Wall Charger.
Verify the charging cable is fully engaged with the both the USB Wall Charger and
device that is being charged.
