Compassion – We put others first
“Don’t do anything from selfish ambition or from a cheap desire
to boast, but be humble towards one another, always
considering others better than yourselves. And look out for one
another’s interests, not just for your own. The attitude you
should have is the one that Christ Jesus had.” Philippians 2:3-4
(GNB)
I would like to thank you for your wonderful support,
which helps all of us here to provide the special
learning environment we all desire for our wonderful
junior children.

Principal’s Ponderings…
Kia ora Parents,
Richest Blessings.
This week I have asked Mrs Learey, Head of Junior Campus,
to contribute to the newsletter.
Many Blessings to one and all,
Steve Frost
children are being taught that compassion is not only
having a feeling of sympathy for the suffering or
misfortune of another, but it includes putting this into
action and doing something to alleviate it. It is inspiring
to see the children display this, in ways they are able,
around the school.

Prayer Diary
(Principal)
Dear Parents and School Community
It is Week 2, and the Junior Campus is buzzing!
I am extremely proud of our staff, and the way everyone
seeks to create a special environment where our lovely
children can learn and grow. We have a wonderful team
of
teachers.
Classroom
teachers
and
specialist/remedial/extension teachers alike take time
creating a special relationship with each child. They
consider each child’s needs and abilities individually, as
they daily provide a quality education. They work on
creating a warm, friendly environment, where each child
can be happy and learn. They model Biblical values
and principles, and take time to read the Bible and pray
with the children demonstrating that our faith is a living
faith. Our ancillary staff are invaluable. We appreciate
and value our teacher-aides. Lorraine, our full-time
teacher-aide works both in the classroom and in her
own room teaching individual children and small
groups. Victoria runs our PMP programme (Perceptual
Motor Programme) and teaches ESOL (English as a
Second Language). Eunice has a responsibility to an
individual child, as well as graciously working alongside
a classroom teacher. We very much appreciate our
grounds staff. We value Suzanne who works hard to
keep the grounds so beautiful. We appreciate Barry
who does so much to keep our property in good shape
by carrying out a wide variety of jobs. Our librarian,
Janet, knows every child, the books they like, and she
runs the library with professionalism and graciousness.
We value our office staff, their efficiency, and the way
they keep things running so smoothly at the front desk,
as well as attending to the myriad of things they do
behind the scenes.
I am extremely proud of the children on the Junior
Campus. At this time of year we welcome new children
into our school, from the New Entrants to new arrivals
into already established classes. It is lovely to see the
way that our children accept and include new children.
The new arrivals are never short of new friends who
make them feel one of the class, and help them fit into
our Hillview environment and take on board our Hillview
culture. Watching this process take place it is evident
that our children are helpful, encouraging, and
respectful of each other, and truly seeking to
demonstrate Others First behaviour. Our children are
learning to take the Biblical principles they learn and
are apply these in the playground. For example, the
value for this term is compassion, and our children are
learning why this value is so important. In class the

Tips for Learning
Year 0-2: I.C.T [by Ross Meecham]
Age-based guidelines for kids' Internet use:
If your child/ren use the Internet at home, you already know
how important it is to help protect them from inappropriate
content and contact.
This is a good age to teach them some responsibility when
going online:




I always ask for permission from mum/dad to use any
technological piece of equipment
I will book a time with mum/dad to sit with me when
going online
I will sit in an open area where I can be seen at all
times
I will listen to any words of advice from mum/dad
about technology and obey them because I trust they
know what’s best for me

grateful for your support as they struggle with Rachel's

a ‘givealittle’ page which you can access here:
you
https://givealittle.co.nz/cause/hendersons/ where
can make a donation which will be eligible for a tax
credit, meaning you can donate a lot more, as you can
claim 33% back from the IRD at the end of the
year. Your donations will be managed by the Hillview

easing a little of the pressure of living with a
degenerative terminal illness. It may take a week or so
for the link to be set up, so please try again later if it
doesn't work first time. Thanks.
