Love Covers Over a Multitude of Sins For the week of March 19 – 25 Prayer: That we love in such a way that others are transformed Day 1: 1 Peter 4:7-11 Three questions to ponder: How do being “clear minded” & “self-controlled” help us love? When did Jesus demonstrate this as an example? When have you experienced or given love that covered sin? Day 2: Matthew 18:15-22 Three questions to ponder: The word ‘brother’ specifies that this is conduct for within the church: how might that alter our understanding? How does Peter’s question reflect our own typical reaction to what Jesus encourages? Who might you need to consider approaching? Day 3: 1 John 4:7-21 Three questions to ponder: In what ways does God’s love complete us? Where can you see this to be true in your life? In our church? What significance is that ‘God demonstrates His love first’? How do we see God’s love covering a multitude of sins? Day 4: 1 Peter 2:18-25 Three questions to ponder: How does Jesus demonstrate how to ‘cover sin’? What difference does this make as we consider relationships with brothers & sisters in Christ? How might Christ be calling you to “follow”? (v.21) Day 5: 1 Corinthians 13:1-13 Two questions to ponder: How does Jesus fulfill all of these characteristics of love? How might this passage deepen our understanding of how “love covers a multitude of sins”? Further Reflection: As you consider the activities of others which quickly annoy you, how might you substitute love instead?
