A simple cardboard box works well. • Place your camera or webcam. • Position a light source towards the stage • Secure both the box and the camera to prevent movement • Position your object(s) on the stage • Aim your camera towards them Be sure to check: Does your camera need to be focused? Does your camera have the ability to zoom in or out? Check the outer edges of your camera view Step Two: Capture images • Take your first picture • Move or “nudge” the object in the desired direction of movement • The smaller the nudge, the smoother your video will be • Patience and attention to detail during this process is important • Be consistent with the length of each nudge • Be sure that your hand is not in view. If you accidentally take a picture where your hand is in the shot, you can remove it later in Movie Maker • Before taking each picture, wait a moment for the lighting to adjust. As you reposition the object, your hand is between the light source and the object which changes the amount of light that is directed onto your stage. Step Three: Import your captured images into Windows Live Movie Maker •Open Movie Maker •Click “Add videos and photos” •Navigate to the folder where your pictures are saved. •Press Ctrl+a to select all •Click “Open” •In Movie Maker, all of the images are still highlighted •Click VIDEO TOOLS and set the duration of clips (0.03) •You can select a single clip and manually set its length Minimum Maximum 0.03 Seconds 86,400 Seconds 33.33 Images per Second 24 Hours per Image Step Four: Add Movie Maker Effects • • • • • • • Titles (Text) Subtitles (Text on top of images or video) Credits (at the end) Transitions (between clips) Video effects Panning or Zooming effects Music or sound effects Windows Live Movie Maker – 7 tutorials: http://www.7tutorials.com/windows-live-movie-maker Examples of various stop motion techniques: “Deadline” Post-it animation. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BpWM0FNPZSs “Coraline” Full length motion picture (Making of) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XUqMfKbV4ho “Morph” Stop Motion (Clay) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N-zRH0dLJFs Pac Man Stop Motion (People in auditorium) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fPOD03Fhbeo&feature=related The Marker Maker (Whiteboard) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6vZ0iqUS6sg&feature=endscree n&NR=1 Labeling Items in Powerpoint Save As – jpeg Import jpeg into Movie Maker Online Session Evaluation Choose Thursday – Jim Berry
