Osaka Prefecture passed an ordinance requiring
bicycle owners to have liability insurance, which comes
into effect on July 1, 2016.
You may be subjected to liability fees!
A boy riding a bicycle at night struck and injured an elderly
pedestrian. The victim was seriously injured and fell into a
coma. The mother of the boy was ordered to pay 95 million
yen in liability damages! (2013 Kobe District Court)
