Club awards night on Saturday 27th April, association awards night on Saturday 4th May and the club’s AGM will see our inaugural year completely wrapped up. Well done to all in making sure we fielded competitive sides in all grades during the season. To those players who missed out playing games in certain rounds because there were too many players to choose from thanks for not complaining too much about your non-selection. The committee is also very appreciative to all who completed the survey that Xavier assembled and circulated. Congratulations to our sides that made the finals this year. It is always a special time to participate in these games. Unfortunately the F graders didn’t experience any wins in these games this year after reaching both the one day GF and semi-finals for the combined competition. The one day league boys had mixed results that saw them missing out on making the Grand Final but it should be sufficient incentive to keep most of them coming back next year to try and make sure they finally reach the pinnacle of their careers. It was a pleasure to be able to witness the victory of our C grade side when they defeated Wanneroo at the Showgrounds. It was also a great moment to swing past Edgewater theweek before to see the side and our supporters who had turned out in force celebrating theirsemi-final win including many members of the vanquished F grade side. The level of support shown at both these matches is the true reflection as to how well the clubs have merged together this year. For the C graders to pull off the win in such nail biting circumstances was the just desserts/icing on the cake. It was also fitting that they could celebrate this victory on the same day that the Warwick Greenwood Juniors held their presentation day back at Penistone Reserve/clubrooms. Well done to Scott and his team in winning the first premiership flag for Warwick Greenwood Senior Cricket Club – stalwarts from both clubs contributed to the success of this side as well as being ably supported by Michael Moses who was playing his first year of senior cricket. I encourage as many as possible to attend the club’s award night on Saturday 27th April. Thank you to all who have made sure that this year has gone as well as it has\. We look forward to making sure that next year is even better. Shakey THE REDS REVIEW SEASON WRAP UP A Grade One Day – 8th (1 win, 6 losses) Two Day – 8th (2 W1, 11 L1 & 1 L2 losses) A tough year but lots of youngsters blooded. Times like this make us harder and tougher and I’m sure the boys will all have big hearts next year and stick with it. C Grade SEASON WRAP UP CONT. One Day League 2nd – 10 wins, 4 losses and 2 byes A great year for the boys finishing 2nd on the ladder after the minor rounds. Unfortunately we couldn’t get over the line in the finals getting knocked out in the Prelim by the eventual Premiers. Some outstanding efforts this year with the bat and ball. Look forward to a big 2013/2014!!! One Day – 4th (8 W1, 1 D, 5 L1) NEWS OF THE MONTH Two Day – 4th (3 wins, 1 draw, 3 losses) Well this is an easy one!!! The news of the month for our final newsletter this season is that C Grade are Premiers for season 2012/2013!!!!!!!! A great season culminating in the Premiership in Two Day cricket! Well done boys!!! D Grade One Day – 6th(2 wins, 1 draw, 4 losses) Two Day – 8th (4 W1, 1 draw, 9 L1) Lots of young players blooded even as young as 14 which will hold the club in good stead next season and beyond. F Grade One Day – 2nd (4 wins, 1 draw, 2 losses) Two Day – 3rd (2 W2, 5 W1,1 draw, 5 L1, 1 L2) Successful season, bring on next year to go one step further!!! H Grade One Day –6th (3 wins, 4 losses) Two Day – 6th(1 W2, 4 W1, 8 L1) H Grade had some ups and downs this year with us beating some strong teams and then getting beaten by teams that we should have walked over. Some extremely impressive batting from Shahid & Jamal and outstanding bowling from Nazza. Great win by the boys!! In their first final it was 1 vs 4 when our boys took on the might of Edgewater and beat the cocky bastards!! The old saying of don’t count your chickens before theyre hatched was pertinent here as Edgewater had guaranteed themselves a place in the Grand Final…unfortnatey for them they ended up scratching their balls come Gradn Final weekend….so sad. In the Grand Final it was our mighty warriors up against Wanneroo at their home ground. After a great start rolling Wanneroo for 100 our boys were 1/39 at stumps with Higgers and Moses batting beautifully for the last hour and half. Some spectators thought it would be a mere formality the next day but our boys knew they would have to fight to the end……and it was so. What a battle!!! At one stage we were 5 for 60, 6 for 64, 7 for 73, 8 for 83 and 9 for 95. However we were always a chance with the cool head of Tully at the crease. It was fitting that at the end he was batting with his brother who has been the bowling hero all season when he hit the winning runs. What an unbelievable feeling for the boys and their supporters. A big thankyou to all those that came down over the finals and supported the boys. C Grade – Premiers 2012/13 Yeeeeeehhhaaaaa!! The cricketer in my sights this month is a veritable rock star and demi god in this club. A man that can bamboozle batters and maidens alike. It's the Sicoe himself, Simon Coe. Fairly new to this club Simon has become one of us even though he is a Pom. The club has welcomed him in even though he has moths in his wallet and hasn’t had a shower in a week, and even when he did he shared the water with 8 other Poms! One of the most under rated bowlers in the club, Simon cops plenty from the higher graded players about his bowling….they promptly shut up though when he gets them out!!! Has a full list of balls he can choose from, he has been collecting them from all the clubs he has played for over his many years. Has had stints at clubs in England – the mother country, Ireland where all the drunks play, has toured Brazil, Lima and Peru teaching Mongolian warriors the nuances of the sport and then landed in sunny Australia. First called Canberra home before realising even us Aussies think Canberra is gods arsehole end of the earth before settling in gods own country – Perth Western Australia. Very impressive on the dance floor and can show the younger generations how to bust a move. However don’t get in his way as he gets a very serious look on his face when he is dancing….he is either concentrating really hard or is trying to fart out the Black pudding he had hours earlier!! A solid trainer who loves running laps Simon always looks awkward taking a catch but always seems to hold them; it must be all those English mints he got from his mate Simon Jones! Known to win bar awards in his first year at Greenwood, Sicoe loves a Coopers Pale Ale. Sicoe was most disappointed his mate Puma didn’t win the bar award, however with the money they both put over the bar the club was able to purchase 3 beachside mansions on the Gold Coast!!! Known to the ladies as a Rock Demi god, Rod Stewart constantly rings Sicoe for tips and hints on how to handle himself around the female variety. The one the only – Simon Destroyer Coe.
