Have fun! Mrs. Mellor Sports Results from the past week: 3 Pupils selected for the ISA Midland’s Team! We received some excellent news this week. Off the back of their performances at the ISA U16 football tournament last week in Nottingham, 3 of our players caught the eye of the selectors and Freddie Howland and Alex Whitehead of year 10, as well as Rory Woof of year 11 will be joining the ISA Midland’s Select team this season to play the likes of Wolverhampton Grammar and Repton School. Very well done and congratulations! U11 Football V’s Heathfield – Lost 5-1: A tough first game for the newly formed U11 team. We were mostly a team of year 5’s against a majority year team 6 so it was always going to be a tough job, especially as we were playing 11 a side in large goals on a large pitch. The boys worked extremely hard throughout and there were some great individual performances. Charlie Battin was excellent in goal and just as effective when he came out. Hugo Bamford made some great tackles in defence and Jack Pickering did some of his trademark long runs. Our consolation goal came from a deflection after and great shot from Flynn little. We have some work to do to develop but there were some promising signs so well done to all of the boys. U9 Football V’s Heathfield 4-4 Draw: This was a very closely fought match. We did take the lead through a great strike from Sebastian Bamford early on but Heathfield came back with two goals despite some excellent goalkeeping from Daniel Curley. Not to be outdone, Bowbrook came out firing on all cylinders for the second half and within 10 minutes, Tom Allart had scored a hat-trick to take the score to 4-2! With a comfortable lead we let our guard down and Heathfield came back with 2 goals in quick succession in the closing minutes of the game to bring things level. A great performance from all involved. Well done. U16 Football V’s Heathfield – 4-1 Win: This was a great game to watch with some excellent football being played by both sides but Bowbrook had the upper hand and, although they started slowly, they later began to take full control and showed excellent composure and skill to take the victory. Great goals from Alex Whitehead, Harry Mogg and Rory woof sealed the game but congratulations to all involved who contributed much to the performance on the day. ISA U14 Football Tournament – 6th Overall: The U14 team travelled to Leicestershire for the ISA U14 tournament on Thursday. With a mixture of years 7 to 9 we knew it would be a tough day but the boys played with exceptional effort and determination and had some excellent results. 5 goals were scored in the day, 3 by captain Ollie Clear, and one each by Harry Atkinson and Seb Murray, however, the whole team contributed to the final outcome through their tenacity. The 3 – 0 win against Maple Hayes was definitely a highlight! Next Weeks Fixtures: Students should check the PE notice board to see if they are involved in fixtures.
