war. Recognize this conflict by turning off your phone for this one
short hour. http://tinyurl.com/congouiuc
Three Kinds of Wildness
Some of the best things I’ve seen on stage happen in “Three
Kinds of Wildness.” –Morgan Andrews, Puppet Uprising
Philadelphia
Tuesday, Nov 11 , 7pm, Main Lounge
Three Kinds of Wildness is the newest play from Der
Vorführeffekt Theatre, a company under the artistic direction of
Donna Oblongata. Featuring an all-star company of multidisciplinary artists hailing from Philadelphia, New Orleans,
Baltimore, and New York, the play is 100% handmade and
homemade, with exquisitely crafted puppets, intricately
layered soundscapes, and unconventional theatrical lighting
made from salvaged and repurposed materials gathered from
around Philadelphia.
Der Vorführeffekt Theatre is a Philadelphia-based theatre
company that works to create radically beautiful live
performance. At the core of the company’s work is a celebration
of creativity, imagination, resourcefulness, and liveness.
Donna’s theatrical work has been cited by Rolling Stone as
one of the reasons Baltimore had the “Best Scene in the
Country” and by the Baltimore City Paper when it named DIY
Theater as the city’s Best Trend: “Best exemplified by
overlapping theater factions of Wham City…and Missoula
Oblongata...the productions are big, bold, and unendingly
impressive." On the company’s recent tour to New Zealand,
The 7 Person Chair Pyramid High Wire Act was nominated for
Best Production Design at the Wellington Fringe Festival.
Other past honors include participation in the Flint Public Art
Project, being named one of the Top 10 Productions at the
2006 Montreal Fringe Festival, and one of “A Dozen Defining
Art Moments” by the Missoula Independent.
