Ralph Ascoli ’57 is the Facilities Coordinator
of the September 11th Hometown Memorial
in the Town of Babylon at Cedar Beach. 45
families lost 48 loved ones including Ralph’s
daughter. The Memorial conducts a work
day every spring and fall, with Chaminade
students/teachers/coaches assisting with the
gardening and maintenance of the Memorial.
Fred Magenheimer ’57 began a two-year
term as Board Chairman of Mental Health
America Los Angeles (MHALA), an organization dedicated to promoting mental health
recovery and wellness through the programs
they run and advocacy. He is also a Board
Member of the Project Return Peer Support
Network, providing support and services to
those dealing with mental illness. He has been
a longtime volunteer in the mental health
field.
Robert Obach ’58 has had a book published,
The Catholic Church on Marital Relations:
from St. Paul to Pope John Paul II (Rowan
Ken Irvine ’59 retired from Scotiabank
(Asia-Pacific group) as of October 31, 2015
and will devote his time to the Bettina
Irvine Golf Classic. He will also explore other
opportunities in the non-profit sector that
have been proposed to him. Ken had worked
in investment banking, corporate finance
and commercial banking over the past five
decades, as well as serving in the US Marine
Corp Reserves. He has been a director (for
the past ten years) and Vice-Chair (for the
past two years) of the Alpha-1 Foundation,
whose mission it is to find a cure of genetic
and other lung diseases.
Edward Smith ’59 spent 5 years teaching
at St. James H. S., Chester PA, 18 years at
Chaminade HS, Mineola, 5 years at Chaminade College Prep, West Hills, CA, and 23
years at Flintridge Sacred Heart, Flintridge La
Canada, CA. Ed is retiring after 50 years in
the classroom. He will continue with his psychotherapy practice and managing his antique
business at bellacosaantiques.com.
Gerald Vanella ’60 has recently relocated to
N. Myrtle Beach, SC. He has retired from
Grumman and Chase bank. He and his wife,
Joann, have been married for 50 years. They
have three sons, a special niece, and eight
grandchildren.
Philip Kantz ’61 retired in 2010 from
sailing in the Merchant Marine under his
credentials as a licensed shipmaster. He
received a Master’s Degree in Public Policy
from Norwich University on June 19, 2015.
Phil was accepted into Pi Alpha Alpha, the
honors fraternity for Public Administration
and Public Affairs. He and his wife, Barbara,
celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on
August 21st.
Richard Sherman ’65 was named the
2015 Citizen of the Year last month by the
Falmouth MA Chamber of Commerce. He
may be best known for managing the Falmouth Road Race for 39 years with his wife,
Kathleen, but it is a combination of all his
activities and volunteerism in town through
the years for which he is being recognized.
Bob McKillop ’67 has had a stellar career
as head coach of the Davidson College
Basketball Team for the past 25 years. In
recognition of his accomplishments as a
Basketball Coach, the New York City Basketball Association inducted Bob into their
Hall of Fame at a dinner at the New York
Athletic Club on September 16, 2015. Bob

Andrew Donahue ’68 was recently named
SEC Chief of Staff and top aide to SEC
Commissioner White.
William Murphy ’71 is an inspector with the
Suffolk County Police Department, currently
the Commanding Officer of the Homeland Security and Anti-Terrorism Bureau. He has just
celebrated his 40th year with the department.
Greg Swenson ’80 has moved to the UK to
open a London office as a Managing Partner of The Doonberg Group, a NY based
merchant bank in the commercial shipping,
mining, and infrastructure industries.
Matthew Eannaccone ’81 has relocated his
dental practice to 215 Oakwood Dr., Huntington, NY 11743.
Mark Geraldi ’89 has been promoted to the
rank of Colonel and will be attending the
Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts
University, as a US Army War College Fellow.

program in Mathematics at Drexel University.

Luke Wandrusch ’09 has recently relocated to
Ludwigsburg, Germany where is working as the
new team manager for MHP Riesen. This is a
local basketball team that plays in the German
national league as well as in the Eurocup.
Frank Kurre ‘81 was recently elected by his
fellow Grant Thornton partners to a second 3
year term as a member of the Firm’s Partnership Board. The Partnership Board, which is
the governing body of the Firm, includes ten
elected members and the Firm’s CEO. Frank
serves as Managing Partner of Metro New
York & New England, the largest territory
of the firm. Grant Thornton LLP is the US

Paul Napoli ’85 announces the opening
of Napoli Uhkolnik PLLC. The national
litigation firm provides representation to

medical devices, asbestos related illnesses,

John Corvino ’87 is Professor and Chair
of Philosophy at Wayne State University in
Detroit. Oxford University Press has
published two of his books.
Chase Dale ’94 has assumed command of the
Airborne Electronic Attack Squadron VAQ-140
in Whidbey Island, WA, as of June 21, 2015.
Michael Scoma ’94 MD completed his Fellowship in Infectious Disease five years ago at Yale
