1534 AD – IGNIO LOPEZ FOUNDS THE JESUIT ORDER
“The LORD says: Because they have forsaken my law which I set before them,
and have not obeyed my voice, neither walked therein.” (Jeremiah 9 v 13)
HISTORY
As a young man Inigo Lopez of Loyola had a love of martial exercises and a desire for fame. He
was inspired by the stories of the Knights of Camelot and the Song of Roland. He joined the
army at 17 and brandished his sword with gusto: challenging others to duels to the death.
In 1521 he fought in the Battle of Pamplona. His leg was shattered by a cannonball. While
recovering from illness he decided to begin a quest for a higher calling of service.
In 1522 he visited a famous statue of the Virgin Mary located in a Benedictine abbey in
Monteserrat. It is a freestanding wood sculpture of a black Madonna. She holds an orb in
her right hand. Her left hand is open palm – the Christ child sits on her lap unembraced. The
hand of the Christ child is raised bent at the elbow in the style of the traditional Eastern
blessing of the Byzantine Church found in all its images of Christ.
In 1523 Inigo lived in solitude in a cave near the town of Manresa and formulated a set of
teachings he called ‘Spiritual Exercises’. They were designed for a proselyte to be guided by a
‘spiritual director’. Ignio went to the Holy Land but was sent back by the Franciscan monks.
In 1524 Inigo moved to Paris to study theology and Latin at a university.
In 1534 Ignio and some followers bound themselves in vows of poverty, chastity, and
obedience to the Pope. Among them were Francis Xavier and Peter Faber. He called his
order ‘Society of Jesus’. Followers were known as ‘Jesuits’. Ignio the warrior had his troops.
In 1540 the Pope approved the Order. He declared the Order is founded for: ‘whoever desires
to serve as a soldier for God’. A ‘soldier for God’ is one who will defend the Catholic Church
and guide souls in obedience to the Pope and all Catholic Church teachings without question.
In 1554 Ignio wrote the ‘Jesuit Constitutions’ which stress self-denial and submission to
superiors and the person of the Pope. Naturally, Ignio cast himself as ‘Superior General’.
In 1556 Ignio died of malarial fever in Rome. He is the patron saint of Catholic soldiers.

THE JESUIT MOVEMENT
The Society of Jesus is consecrated to the ‘Blessed Virgin Mary’. Therefore while the name of
the Order suggests a loyalty to Jesus, the constitution requires a devotion to the goddess
‘Madonna’ represented by statues and idols that Ignio bowed down to on his pilgrimage.
The obedience of the Order is to the Pope, but the spiritual power behind the Order is a

AD (The Council of Ephesus). Bernard of Clairvaux and Cistercian Order was the chief agent
for the Cult of Mary sweeping the Catholic Church from 1112 to 1132 AD.
The Order worked to re-educate Catholic priests and re-orient them to the spiritual aims of
Catholicism. The Reformation made gains because the Catholic Church was self-indulgent.
The ascetic nature of the Order made it a perfect instrument in the Counter-Reformation.
In 1541 the Order became a missionary movement when Francix Xavier arrived in Goa, India.
He went on to Japan and later died in China. Later more Jesuits entered China through the
Portuguese colony of Macau. The Order sent men to Latin America who founded missions to
natives and Catholic schools. Jesuits were active in French Canada in missions to natives.
In 1773 the Pope declared the Society of Jesus to be null and void. Members of the Order fled
to Protestant countries for safety. The reasons for this remarkable suppression aren’t clear.
The Order had become powerful with a loyal hierarchy and possessed land in the colonies.
The Order became too involved in politics and caused monarchs to complain to the Pope.
In 1814 the Order was restored. Thus began a period of growth with a large number of
colleges and universities being founded by the Order. It continues to be influential in the
Catholic Church. Pope Francis is the first Jesuit to be Pope.

Who makes the laws to govern your behavior and beliefs?
The answer is: whoever is your god.

Whenever a man dictates to a society under him a set of laws to govern their behavior he
becomes a god to those people. They honor him and they follow his commands.
Jesus Christ already left us with a well-documented set of instructions in the gospels. The
Apostles continued to unfold the will of the LORD in their writings in the New Testament.
If anyone says he follows Jesus, then let him follow the instructions of Jesus and the Apostles.
Therefore the ‘Society of Jesus’ founded by Ignio Lopez ought to be known as the ‘Society of
Ignio Lopez’. Ignio Lopez venerated the idol of Madonna, and so his followers must as well.
The words of the prophet Jeremiah are fulfilled in the ‘Society of Ignio Lopez’: “they have
forsaken my law which I set before them, and have not obeyed my voice, neither walked
therein”. As such, the ‘Society of Ignio Lopez’ is a cult – it has no part in the Kingdom of God
administered by the LORD Jesus Christ whatsoever. In fact, the Order works against Jesus.

PART ONE
Chapter 9 of Jeremiah is the 78th chapter of The Prophets.
The spiritual number 78 means ‘Miraculous Signs’.
The spiritual number 9 means ‘Judgment’
The 78th chapter of the Bible is Exodus 28, which is the account of the clothing and accessories
of the high priest Aaron. The jewelry of the ephod alone was a collection fit for a king. All the
items were to be skillfully crafted, exquisite in workmanship, and composed of valuable
materials. It transformed the plain man Aaron into a walking treasure, decked in gold, jewels,
and fine fabrics. Every detail was prescribed all the way down to the underwear and how little
bells were to be stitched into the hem of his robe.
When Aaron the high priest moved in the Tent of Meeting it was an awe-inspiring spectacle –
look! There is a god walking among us! Aaron was more than a priest with certain duties to
perform – he became a symbol of God in the flesh – present in the Tabernacle.

Aaron’s garments were understood to possess miraculous power. In the wilderness journey
God said on a certain day that Aaron would die. Aaron climbed up Mount Hor. Moses
stripped off his holy garments and put them on his son Eleazar1. Then Aaron died. Why did
he die? He was vigorous enough to climb a mountain. He died because the holy garments
were stripped off him – and they had kept him alive - in spite of all his sin against God. Recall:
Aaron led the people to worship the golden calf while Moses was up the mountain.
Another miraculous feature of Aaron’s garments was the Urim and Thummim in the
breastpiece. These two stones were used by the high priest for divine guidance. For example:
which of the goats on the Day of Atonement should be the scapegoat.
The number 78 = 6 x 13 means ‘Flesh’ (6) of ‘Rebellion’ (13). It can also be translated as 78 = 3
x 26 which means: ‘Binding’(3) (the) ‘Gospel’ (26). Aaron was merely a man – with sinful flesh
like all other men. In his heart Aaron was disobedient to the instructions of God – not capable
of pleasing Him in thought, word, and deed.
God appointed Aaron to be the high priest as a demonstration of the failings and weaknesses
of men in fulfilling the high priestly office. Only the power of Aaron’s garments kept him alive
in spite of his sinful nature. He died and was buried in the earth like other common men.
Jesus fulfilled the duties of the High Priest by living a perfect life and offering the perfect
sacrifice – his body on the tree – to pay for sins. Jesus was God in the flesh – walking among
us. Jesus proved his identity by the performance of astounding miracles – including the
raising of Lazarus from the death – and his own resurrection from the dead.
Ignio Lopez founded an Order of priests for which he made the laws and he judged the priests.
Therefore Ignio Lopez installed himself as the High Priest of his Order. But Ignio Lopez died of
a fever and was buried like other common men. His death and burial proves there was
nothing super-spiritual or super-natural about Ignio Lopez. He was not ‘God among us’ as his
headship over the Order would suggest. Since sacraments are worthless to God and can’t
take away sins Ignio Lopez was even disqualified from being a competent priest.

PART TWO

Why would any saint of God want to give up their freedom, join an Order like the ‘Society of
Ignio Lopez’, and accept the restriction of all the laws and governance of Ignio Lopez over
their lives and their futures? Literally, why would a free man make themselves Ignio Lopez’
slave? Especially when they know going in he treats his slaves roughly ‘Beatings Accepted’!
This is a particularly apt question because the Bible forbids followers of Jesus from following
men. Paul says “I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ that you all
agree with one another so there will be no divisions among you… there are quarrels among
you… One of you says ‘I follow Paul’; another, ‘I follow Apollos’; another, ‘I follow Cephas’;
still another ‘I follow Christ’. Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Were you
baptized into the name of Paul?” (1 Cor. 1 v 10-13)
Christians must not follow men, because we are a ‘Family of One God’. In fact, we are not
even to follow Apostles! We are to follow Jesus: ‘The Way, The Truth, and The Life’.
