European Defence Action Plan: New Opportunities for Regions

On 30 November 2016 the Commission adopted an Action Plan to boost research and innovation
of European defence industry, to promote access to finance to SMEs and foster investments as
well as ensure Europe has an open and competitive single market for defence.
This introductory workshop will look into the opportunities generated by the Action Plan for regions.
Major themes covered include the development of a European defence research programme, the
strengthened use of the European Structural and Investment Funds for defence & dual-use activities
in research and innovation and initiatives in the area of skills.
This event will be of interest to regions who have defence industries and may wish to find out more
on these new opportunities and develop closer links with other regions.
