CORE TASK: Create a newspaper article showing Claudius becoming king.
Include the 5Ws and features of a newspaper article.
EXTENSION TASK: Show how the article would be different for a broadsheet
newspaper compared to a tabloid.
KQ: How would the marriage be set?
CORE TASK: Draw the set design for the marriage between Claudius and
Gertrude (this scene is not in the play). Where would you use props/ place
characters etc
EXTENSION TASK: Include a description of the costumes the main characters
would be wearing.
KQ: How could the play be adapted for a modern audience?
CORE TASK: Write 3 scenes from the play as a modern interpretation. You must
use features of a playscript. You can choose from the following scenes:
 Horatio seeing the ghost
 Claudius speaking to the people of the kingdom
 Hamlet and Ophelia’s argument
 Hamlet seeing his father’s ghost
 Hamlet finding out that Claudius killed his father
OR YOU CAN CHOOSE OTHER SCENES OF YOUR OWN CHOICE.
EXTENSION TASK: Try using language similar to Shakespeare’s in the modern
setting.
