ARGOS CEMENT LLC. – ROBERTA PLANT SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION Argos is a multinational company that produces and markets cement and ready mix concrete through its operations in Colombia, the United States, Central America and the Caribbean. In the cement industry, Argos is the leader in Colombia, the fifth largest producer in Latin America, and the second largest in the southeast of the United States. It has 9 plants in Colombia, 3 in the United States, and 1 in Honduras. Argos has 9 clinker mills located in the United States, Haiti, Panama, the Dominican Republic, Honduras, French Guiana, and Surinam, and 24 ports and terminals for receipt and packaging. Its total installed capacity is 19.9 million tons of cement per year. Scholarship The Argos – Roberta Plant academic scholarship is a one-time scholarship awarded to a graduating high school senior entering his/her freshman year. This scholarship will be awarded to two students in the local community. Minimum Eligibility Requirements At a minimum, scholarship applicants must: 1. Have graduated or plan to graduate from high school in Spring of 2016. 2. Intend to enroll in an accredited 4-year or 2-year college beginning in Fall 2016. 3. Earn a cumulative unweighted overall GPA of 3.5 or higher. 4. Earn a SAT combined critical reading and math score of 1100 or above and/or ACT composite score of 23 or above 5. Have demonstrated high moral integrity, involvement in other activities, demonstrated strong work ethic and has a passion for a career goal that can be articulated. Application Requirements Eligible students applying for the scholarship is requested to provide the following: 1. A short essay explaining why they feel they should be awarded the scholarship; 2. A resume (jobs held, organizations, and achievement, etc…); 3. Three (3) letters of recommendation; 4. A copy of their transcript; 5. SAT and/or ACT results; 6. A list of colleges to which they have applied and those to which they have been accepted. Note: Interviews may be requested of top applicants. Payment of Scholarship Scholarship funds will be made available from your graduating high school upon proof of registration to an accredited 4-year or 2-year college.
