NEREUS – I Underwater Burial Tool Nereus – I is an underwater burial tool, capable of operating successfully in shallow water areas, without the need of additional propulsion since it moves forward as water comes out from the cutting tools. Nereus – I is supported by a floating platform or diving support vessel able to carry the water pump, operators and diving equipment. Nereus – I can be easily dismantled and containerized for transportation worldwide in short notice. SPECIFICATIONS: Jet Sled Water Pump Length: 3,60m Width: 2,90m Height: 1,70m Weight in air: 720kg Cutting tools: - Set of 1m burial depth - Set of 2m burial depth Capable to bury in: - Mud - Sand - Soft clay - Hard clay Discharge volume: 1300m3 Max pressure: 12bar Diesel engine power: 460hp NEREUS – I Telemetry System The innovative Nereus – I telemetry system consists of the following items: - Inclinometer 100m inclinometer cable GPS device Wireless GPS data communication system Data analyzing software Description: The inclinometer is mounted on the cutting tool of the Nereus – I and it is calibrated on the surface. As the cutting tool lowers, the angle of the inclinometer increases. The data are received and analyzed from the software to calculate the actual burial depth of the cable/pipeline acquired. The GPS device is attached to the Nereus – I and provides positioning data of the trench. The data are received through a wireless communication system from the software. The combination of the positioning data with the burial depth data, gives a detailed mapping of the trench and burial depths achieved during burial operations. This allows of real time monitoring of the process and archiving the data acquired.
