staff update - Eastmead Surgery

STAFF UPDATE
We would like to welcome back Maila Latif our Health Care
Assistant. Maila has been away on maternity leave.
The Practice is very pleased to announce that as from August 2016
Dr Alan Jumaily will become a permanent member of staff. Dr
Jumaily will be working all day Mondays and all day Fridays.
A new Registrar – Dr Meschi - will be starting at the Practice on
Wednesday 1st June 2016. Dr Meschi will be working on a Tuesday,
Thursday and Friday, for a period of 6 months.
Clinical Pharmacist
The practice would like to welcome a new member of our team,
Shelina Shah, who is a Clinical Pharmacist.
Ms shah will be
working two mornings a week at the practice and will be helping
patients with their medication reviews and problems that they are
experiencing with their prescriptions or long term medication. If
you are having a lot of problems with your medication and
ordering of your repeat prescription, please speak to Isabel, our
Senior Receptionist, who will be able to book an appropriate
appointment for you to meet with the pharmacist.
Phlebotomist
Eastmead Surgery now have a phlebotomist (for blood tests) at the
practice for one morning a week. She will be working from 8.00 am
– 12.30 pm. The clinic will only run every alternate Thursdays as it
begins to build up. The next clinic will be on 9th June 2016.
Audiology
There will be no further “Audiology” clinics at Eastmead Surgery.
The clinic has been relocated to another area. There will still be a
service at Ealing Park Health Centre in Ealing.
Some of our “Local Residents” have complained to the surgery
about patients parking over their drives when they come to
the surgery for an appointment. This is not acceptable as
there are plenty of parking spaces outside the surgery where
patients are able to park. Please do try and be considerate to
our local residents as this can cause a great deal of disruption
to them, particularly in Stickleton Close. Thank you for your
assistance.
Price Increase for Medical/Insurance Requests
As mentioned in our March 2016 Newsletter some of our prices for
Medical/Insurance requests will be increased from 1st June 2016.
These
prices are being brought in-line with the BMA (British Medical Association)
guidelines. There is a price list on the notice board in the waiting room or
you can obtain one from reception.
On Wednesday 15th June 2016 a new information screen will be
installed in the waiting room. This will call patients to the doctor’s
rooms as well as giving out “health information” to patients sitting in
the waiting room. The old information screen will be switched off
as it is now obsolete.

EPS – Electronics Prescription Service – How it Works
What does this mean for you?



If you collect your repeat prescriptions from you GP you will not have to visit your GP
practice to pick up your paper prescription. Instead, your GP will send it electronically to
the place to choose, saving you time.
You will have more choice about where to get your medicines from because they can be
collected from a pharmacy near to where you live, work or shop.
You may not have to wait as long at the pharmacy as there will be time for your repeat
prescriptions to be ready before you arrive.
Is this service right for you?
Yes, if you have a stable condition and you:
 Don’t want to go to your GP practice every time to collect your repeat prescription.

Collect your medicines from the same place most of the time or use a prescription
collection service now.
It may not be if you:
 Don’t get prescriptions very often
 Pick up your medicines from difference places.

How can you use EPS?
You need to choose a place for your GP practice to electronically send your prescription to.
This is called “Nominations”. You can choose:
 A pharmacy.
 A dispensing appliance contractor (if you use one).
 Your dispensing GP practice (if you are eligible).
Ask any pharmacy or dispensing appliance contractor that offers EPS or your CP practice to
add your nomination for you. You don’t need a computer to do this.
Can I change my nomination or cancel it and get a paper prescription?
Yes you can. If you don’t want your prescription to be sent electronically tell your GP. If you
want to change or cancel your nomination speak to any pharmacist or dispensing appliance
contractor that offers EPS, or your GP practice. Tell them before your next prescription is due
to your prescription may be sent to the wrong place.
Is EPS reliable, secure and confidential?
Yes. You electronic prescription will be seen by the same people in GP practices, pharmacies
and NHS prescription payment and fraud agencies that see your paper prescription now.
Sometimes dispensers may see that you have nominated another dispenser. For example, if
you forget who you have nominated and ask them to check or, if you have nominated more than
one dispenser. Dispensers will also see all the times on your re-order slip of you are on repeat
prescriptions.
