TRANSPORT (TAXI-CABS) REGULATIONS 2005
Determination of Specifications for Taxi-Cabs
I, Marnie Williams, Chief Executive Officer of the Taxi Services Commission, pursuant to
regulation 12(1) of the Transport (Taxi-Cabs) Regulations 2005, have determined that current
Specifications for Taxi-Cabs previously published in the Victoria Government Gazette be
amended by:
1.
deleting the words under specification 19.2 Colour:
All metropolitan taxis must be painted in ‘Victorian Taxi Yellow’.
and replacing them with the following words:
All metropolitan taxis must be painted in ‘Victorian Taxi Yellow’, except where exempted
in writing by the Taxi Services Commission.
2.
delete specification 19.4 Decals:
and replace it with a new specification 19.4, as follows:
19.4 Decals
All Victorian taxis must be fitted with the following decals:
Decal 1 a rectangle with the word TAXI in green on a white background,
located on the bonnet;
Note: Green only applies if the taxi is painted in Victorian Taxi
Yellow.
Decal 2
a green and yellow checkered strip extending the length of the vehicle
each side, just below the line of the windows;
Note: Decal 2 is optional if the taxi is painted in a different colour
scheme. If a decal strip is fitted, it must not resemble the colour
scheme or format of the livery of an emergency service vehicle.
Decal 3
a rectangle with the word TAXI and the vehicle’s registration number
in green on a white background located on each rear door; and
Note: Green only applies if the vehicle is painted in Victorian Taxi
Yellow.
Decal 4 must display the name, trade mark or trade name and telephone
number of the Network Service Provider (NSP) with which the taxi-cab
operator has approved arrangements on each front door of the taxi.
All other specifications published in the Victoria Government Gazette remain in force and will
continue to apply to taxi-cabs licensed under the Transport (Compliance and Miscellaneous) Act
1983.
These amendments take effect on and from the date this notice is published in the Victoria
Government Gazette.
