The purpose of the Research and Review Group is help you to understand the
process of developing a critical response to an essay question. You will have
four essay questions to answer for Topic 9.
When completing the essay questions work through the online worksheet. This
worksheet will be very directive and will lead you through the process of developing a critical response. It is important that you respond to each question regarding resources, author's intent and then come to your own conclusion in responding to the questions.
You can only answer one question on the online form.
There fore you must submit this four times in responding to each question.
Question One: Explain what Lincoln’s Ten Percent Reconstruction Plan was. Why did Lincoln
want to make it easy for the south to reenter the Union? How did the Wade Davis Bill differ?
Question Two: What are the 13th, 14th and 15th Amendments. Why were these Amendments
necessary? What impact do these “Civil War Amendments” have on our society today?
Question Three: What does it mean to “impeach” the President? How many Presidents have
been impeached? How many Presidents have been removed from office? Should President Johnson
have been removed from office? Explain your answer.
Question Four: Why was the Civil War fought? What was the purpose of Reconstruction
and were those ideals met throughout the Reconstruction Era? Why did Reconstruction end?
