Kart-O-Mania
About five years after opening its indoor race kart facility, Kart-O-Mania launched its
camp program “following many requests from parents whose kids were complaining they
were bored in summer,” explained Kart-O-Mania manager Nadia Foti. “The community
knows us and we are trusted,” she said, adding, “we knew we could offer summer camp for
kids only if we had the right staff and equipment, because that makes all the difference.”
They do, and it does. Kart-O-Mania’s facilities on de la Savane near Décarie offer
clean, first-class safety equipment and specially designed karts on a track secured with a
continuous tire wall and flexible impact-resistant guardrail capable of absorbing impact
instantly. In this secure and comfortable atmosphere, Foti said, budding race drivers live
the life of a racer for a week, learning mechanics, skills, and nutrition and fitness issues.
“Yes, fitness issues,” she said, “reminding them that their own physical fitness is as
important to success as the cars themselves.”
Boys and girls, ages 8 to 15, who are at least 1.37 metres (54 inches) tall, can attend one
of seven sessions from July 7 to Aug. 22.
Most of the campers to date have been boys, Foti said, but girls are increasingly flocking
to the track. “They do very well, because their attention level is very high and they are
motivated to show the boys what they can do.”
Karting Day Camp features a qualified team of race instructors as well as visits from
professional drivers, engineering projects, mechanics, advanced racing techniques and
more – all guaranteed to inspire a lifelong passion for this exciting and growing sport.
