FlintPrime® SA is a quick-dry, easy to apply, water-based primer used to prepare surfaces and
promote adhesion when installing self-adhering roofing membranes such as Flintlastic® SA.
FlintPrime SA primer is a ready to use, light-bodied coating that seals pores and creates a
sound, adhesion-promoting surface. FlintPrime SA primer is suitable for use over wood,
plywood, gypsum board, metal and concrete surfaces.

Apply FlintPrime SA by brush, roller or hand sprayer at the rate of 0.20-0.25 gallons per
100 sq. ft. More coverage may be required for extremely porous surfaces.
Preparation: All surfaces must be dry and free of dust, dirt, oil, loose granules, gravel, peeling
paint and all other foreign matter. Rusty metal must be cleaned with a wire brush and primed
before application of this product. Do not heat or thin. Do not apply wHEN HEAVY dew or
rain is expected within 36 hours.

Application
Application: For exterior use only. Protective clothing and eyewear should be used during
application of this product. Always apply on a clear, warm sunny day. Apply in morning hours to
allow maximum cure time. Temperatures must be above 40ºF (for 24 hours) and rising, but not
above 120ºF. Drying conditions are rated at a maximum relative humidity of 50%. Apply with a
1/4" nap exterior paint roller or professional airless sprayer. Allow to cure for 2-4 hours at 77ºF
and 50% relative humidity. Higher humidity, thicker films, poor air flow and lower temperatures
will increase dry times. Coverage rate is approximately 1 gallon per 400 square feet.
For Best Results: Apply on clear sunny day when surface temperatures are between 40ºF and
120ºF. Do not apply when rain is imminent. Primer must be dry before exposure to water or prior
to application of SA membrane.
Clean-Up: Clean tools with soap and water.

Protect from freezing. Store between 50ºF and 100ºF. Keep container covered when not in use.
Do not thin.
Do not store at temperatures below 50°F. Keep closed when not in use. When transporting this
product, ensure that lid is tight and pail secure and upright. Do not allow pail to tumble as this may
cause lid to loosen and leakage to occur. Do not transport on passenger seats or inside the passenger
compartment of any vehicle. Store product in cargo area of vehicle and cover with secured protective
cloth to prevent damage due to accidental spills. Do not store at temperatures above 110°F. CertainTeed
also disclaims liability for flat surface application where poor drainage or moisture may prevail. For
exterior use only. Do not reuse empty containers. Do not use in drinking water or food systems.
