Carmarthenshire Sports Personality Awards CRITERIA FOR NOMINATION Athletes, coaches & volunteers can be nominated for more than 1 award. Those eligible must either have been born in the County, be currently resident in the County or be representing a County Club or School. • Sports Personality of the Year* Male or female (open). • Young Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year* Nominees must be in the Junior Category of their Sport. If under 17 and have competed in a senior event, they can also be nominated for the Sports Personality of the Year Award. • Disabled Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year* To be awarded regardless of age. • High Performance Sports Coach of the Year* Nominees must be a qualified coach within their sporting field and have achieved success in coaching athletes performing at Regional, National and/or International level. The winner of this award will automatically be entered for the Sport Wales Coach of the Year. • Community Sports Coach of the Year * Nominees must be a qualified coach within their sporting field and have achieved success getting more people active in sport and retaining their participation in a local community setting. • Sports Volunteer of the Year Any male or female who has given up their time and energy to volunteer within an organisation. Voluntary work is unpaid and predominantly within Carmarthenshire. Nominations are welcome from teachers. (No age limit) • Young Sports Volunteer of the Year Nominees, male or female, must be aged 21 and under, who has given up time and energy to volunteer within an organisation, e.g. school, sports club, youth group. Voluntary work is unpaid, predominantly within Carmarthenshire and is not part of a formal educational course. • Team of the Year* Male or female (open) team • Young Team of the Year* Male or female (Junior) team competing within the junior category of the sport. • The Ryan Jones Memorial Award for Outstanding Services to Sport Life Time Achievement Award. Male or female of any age, must be a serving member of a club in the Carmarthenshire area. Minimum of 10 years service. • Sporting Hall of Fame 1. 2. An individual born in Carmarthenshire or has spent the majority of life his/her life residing in the County An individual who is a coach or a manager that has achieved success in world class sport 3. An official or referee that has officiated in world class sporting occasions/events 4. An Individual that has represented Wales/Great Britain at senior level (as dictated by the National Governing Body), most notably at World, Olympic and Lions levels (where applicable) An individual that has been retired from competition for a minimum of five years An individual who has produced nationally sustained individual or conjointly team performances over a significant period of time 5. 6. *Please list achievements over the last 12 months only
