Stepping through the Gourds (age K5-10 with caregiver)
Caregivers and children will work together using colorful stained glass and ceramic tile to create two stepping stones, one 6 and one
10 in diameter. Children will take the smaller stepping stone home with them while the larger will become a part of the gourd tunnel
installation. When the installation is over, parents will be notified to pick the larger stone up from Cary Art Center.

Learn how Native Americans used gourds as vessels to carry and store food. Create a hand-painted bucket out of a dried gourd to
carry your treasure in. Fall registration.

Casting Ornamental Leaves (age 14 & up)
Create Art for our Gourd Tunnel! Use real leaves to cast beautiful small to medium size concrete leaf sculptures. Leaves will be cast
in the first class and painted in the second. Leaves will be used to embellish our living mixed media sculpture, Out of the Gourdinary.
If possible, these can be returned to the student when the Gourd Tunnel is de-installed. Some real leaves will be provided, but
students may also bring their own leaves. Space is limited. Registration is required.

Sunflowers: Painting Plein Air in Water Soluble Oils (age 16 & up)
Enjoy your morning relaxing and painting sunflowers using live models as inspiration in the exterior garden of the gourd tunnel.
Beginning and experienced painters are welcome. Supply list provided on receipt. Additional waiver required and will be emailed to
participants to complete and submit upon arrival. Pack a snack and water bottle. Fall Registration.
