Description of Facility This facility is the former Schoolhouse Montessori located on the south side of 23 Mile Road just east of Romeo Plank in Macomb Township, Mi. On site inspections were conducted on 09/12/2008 and 09/17/2008. Oxford Academy Montessori was determined to be in substantial compliance with applicable fire safety rules on 09/04/2008 and was determined to be in substantial compliance with applicable environmental health safety rules on 09/09/2008. There are a total of 16 toilets and 29 sinks throughout the entire center. Rooms 1 and 2 share a bathroom with four child size toilets and two child size sinks. Rooms 3 and 4 share a bathroom with four child size toilets and two child size sinks. Each classroom has three additional sinks. There are two staff bathrooms and the Multipurpose Room has a bathroom. The center also has two additional rooms (5 and 6) that are not in use and are not approved for use at the present time. 2 The center has an adequate amount of developmentally appropriate Montessori equipment and supplies for a maximum capacity of 60 at the present time. The outdoor play area is very large, over 10,000 square feet. It is completely fenced in. There is no stationary equipment. The center is aware that any equipment that is installed must comply with the guidelines of the 1997 edition of the Handbook for Public Playground Safety, PUB No. 325. The center has balls, jump ropes, a Skip-a-Roo, rakes, ring toss, footballs, sidewalk chalk, and a snow shovel for outdoor use. B. Program Description This center will operate Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The center will service children ages birth through 6 year of age. The general provisions, infant/toddler, environmental health and fire safety rules were reviewed with the owner, Dr. Bisham Budhram Singh and program director, Toni Partyka on 09/12/2008 and 09/17/2008. The program director’s credentials were approved on 03/30/2004 by Licensing Consultant, Cynthia Jalynski. She has been a program director for Montessori programs since that time. Her clearance is on file. The program director and lead caregivers all have current CPR and First Aid. There will be a staff member on duty at all times with current CPR and First Aid. This center will not provide transportation. This facility will follow the local school calendar for holidays and vacation days. Parents will be required to provide nutritious lunches. Snacks will be provided by parents on a rotating basis. Children in care for more than five hours per day will be given a rest period. Children will nap or rest on mats provided by the center. Infant and young toddlers will sleep in cribs. 3 IV.
