Getting To Know… Gertrude Anna Frank Gertrude was born in Burlaye Germany in the 1930’s. She had 4 brothers and 3 sisters whom all lived on the farm in Burlaye. Her Mother worked from home and her Dad owned a construction business and a grocery store at one point. Gertrude grew up during the war and had school every second day. She lived in Germany for 22 years and worked for a company that cut dried and packed moss. Gertrude would pack the moss. Gertrude later moved to Canada because her sister Maria (nicked named Mimi) married a Canadian Soldier and wanted someone to come to Canada with her. Gertrude came to Canada on the Seven Seas ship to Quebec City. Her brother in law then picked her up and brought her to Montreal where they all lived. She first started cleaning houses to make money with her sister Maria. She met her husband Emil Frank at a German Dance in Montreal. He worked for the Molson’s brewery. They married in 1959. Gertrude went on to work in the catering business in Montreal. She worked for Rene Pankalla who was the owner and name of the catering business. It was the best catering in Montreal and to this day, still operating and known as the best catering. It was through that business she got to cater and meet George Harrison (The Beatles), Micheal Schumacher (professional race car driver) and Guy Lafleur (Professional hockey player). She has a son, daughter and 4 grandsons. Their newest addition to the family is a 9 week old poodle. Morgan Weistling Papa's Tea Morgan was always noted for his life-touching paintings. He was inspired by his artistic parents. His father was an artist and met his mom at art school. He started art training when he was 19 months old! His father was the first art teacher who gave a solid foundation in the subject. He worked as a Hollywood illustrator for several years before selecting an artistic career. To his surprise, all the paintings in his exhibition were sold on the opening night! Morgan paintings are characterized with soft brush strokes and vivid colors.
