Criteria The criteria below will be used to evaluate each scenario. Depending on the importance given to each element, one scenario could appear more advantageous compared with the others. The criteria are distributed into 6 main sets: 1. Increase the number of public transit riders Examples of elements considered: Public transit ridership Number of people who transfer from vehicles to public transit 2. Serve the greatest number of residences and activity centres Examples of elements considered: Population within walking distance of public transit services Jobs and schools within walking distance of public transit services Quality of service to the main destination points 3. Improve public transit system performance Examples of elements considered: Speed of travel times in the medium and long term Reliability of travel times Link with other public transit services: Rapibus, OC Transpo light rail 4. Improve the quality of life of citizens and preserve a natural, healthy environment Examples of elements considered: Sensitive environments crossed or nearby (-) Traffic-related annoyances: noise, vibrations, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions (-) Necessary expropriations (-) Sectors crossed requiring urban revitalization Urban development potential 5. Contribute to the safety and efficiency of travel for all modes of transportation Examples of elements considered: Impacts on existing pedestrian and cyclist arrangements (-) New arrangements proposed for pedestrians and cyclists Vehicle traffic conditions Safety related to the type of public transit infrastructure 6. Establish the most favourable investment for taxpayers in terms of the service offered Examples of elements considered: Construction costs Vehicle purchase costs Vehicle operating costs (-): element that should be minimized
