NOTES
If your kids are divided into smaller units in several classrooms, group them together for
this kick-off session. Treat this week like a Vacation Bible School opening session, with lots
of energy and fanfare. If you can enlist a live band/acoustic combo for your worship, that
would be great! You will also be using the demos. Teach the choreography to a few teens
or young adults so they can serve as worship leaders. Appoint a Master of Ceremonies/
worship leader to keep the program flowing nonstop. Think of this as a rally, not a
rehearsal.
E
L
P
BEFORE START TIME
Decorate the room with balloons, streamers, banners, and so forth. All staff and volunteers
should be in place 30 minutes prior to start time. In a separate area, have registration
stations and places for parents to pick up T-shirts, CDs, parent booklets (calendar,
Scriptures, song lyrics, etc.), and any other material pertinent to your situation. Have
greeters at building entrances and in hallways to direct traffic.
As kids gather, have the CWS Fall Semester music playing over the sound system.
Volunteers should greet kids and put them in their groups. If appropriate, launch giant
beach balls and let the kids knock them around in the air.

WELCOME AND WORSHIP
MC: Helloooooo (your church name) kids! Welcome to choir! Are you ready to have the best
time anyone could have at (rehearsal time on a rehearsal day in your town, for example: 6:00
p.m. on a Wednesday night in San Antonio, Texas)? You are in for a great night, because we
are going to MAKE SOME NOISE! We are going to bring some crazy worship to this place.
Let’s hear how loud you can scream. (Let kids scream for a few seconds.) WOW! I know
Jesus heard that! All right, jump up on your feet, let’s make some noise!
E
L
P
Start Demo: “Make Some Noise”
Worship Leaders run in clapping and shouting.
MC: (over music) This is a brand-new song. Follow the leaders that are up front.
(Go through the whole song with over-the-top energy from your up-front team. The kids
can follow the choreography and will be introduced to the song. The MC should prompt
and encourage the kids throughout the song. Right before Chorus 2, the MC should yell,
“Let’s sing!”)
M
A
MC: That was GREAT! What do you think the name of this song is? That’s right, it’s “Make
Some Noise,” and that’s just what we’re going to do this fall. We’re going to worship Jesus
with loud voices and enthusiastic motions, and He will know that we love Him enough to
shout about Him. We’re going to make some noise so that people in our church want to
worship too.
As a matter of fact, we’re going to make SO MUCH NOISE that people outside our church
will want to come in and see what and who we’re shouting about. And who would that be?
JESUS! Let’s see who can shout the loudest right now.
S
(MC should divide the room into sections by grade level, gender, and so forth. The kids
would love for the MC to use a sound level meter [instrument that measures decibels],
or an app on a smartphone to determine which group is the loudest.)
MC: Now that we have found out which group is the loudest, let them know they are
the winner by yelling, “You are SO LOUD!” (lead kids in yelling)
Now, you loud people, let’s hear from you. Yell, “We are SO LOUD!” (motion for group
to yell) Yes, (rubbing your ears) you are certainly the loudest! Everybody have a seat.
SKIT
Actors 1 and 2 come onstage/up front, with no introduction.
#1: (sounding an air horn or similar device) (Make sure it is appropriate for your space and
won’t damage ears or scare the kids.)
MAKE SOME NOISE • Older Choir • Semester 1, Week 1 • Page 3
#2: (covering ears) Owww! Why did you do that?
#1: I just got this ____ (air horn, cowbell, etc), and I wanted to try it out. Works well,
doesn’t it?
#2: Y
eah, it works! Of course it works well, it’s an ____ (air horn/cowbell). But why do you
think it’s OK to use it in here? (still rubbing ears)
#1: W
ell, I heard you guys talking and singing about making some noise… soooooo I
thought I would REALLY make some noise! (blows it again, with big reaction from #2)
E
L
P
#2: W
hoa, you REALLY did all right, but the point of Psalm 100 is not just to make noise.
It says we are to make a joyful noise to the Lord, and worship Him, and sing praises,
and thank Jesus, and bless His name.
#1: O
h. So… you probably didn’t get all that when I did this (sounds air horn again right
in #2’s ear)
#2: S
top! Give me that (taking air horn). The point is, we should not be ashamed to
worship. We should sing loud, and shout praises, and lift up Jesus’ name.
#1: Like this? (yelling loudly) PRAISE YOU, JESUS!
M
A
#2: Yeah, like that. I think they heard you in the next building—maybe even the next county.
#1: Y
eah, they probably did! I’m really glad we can be loud in this church. I knew something
was up when I heard that “Make Some Noise” song. That’s a great song. These kids are
going to sing it really well, I can already tell.
S
#2: You can, huh?
#1: W
ell, look at them! (gestures to kids) They’ve got good lungs and lots of energy, and
I know they love Jesus, so they’re gonna really praise Him loud and strong! Especially
that one over there, (pointing to a particular kid) he’s really got it going on!
#2: Finally! You get it!
#1: Y
eah, some churches are like libraries or museums, and everybody is expected to be
(whispering) really quiet, and it makes everybody seem sad.
#1: W
ell, there are times to be quiet and times to be loud. If we want to tell the world
about Jesus, we’re going to have to make some noise for sure.
#1: N
ow, YOU’RE getting the point! If you let me use the horn, I can REALLY get a lot of
attention for Jesus. (struggling to take air horn back as they’re leaving stage/front)
#2: Oh no! This is mine now! (still struggling with horn)

MESSAGE
Show the words of Psalm 100:1-5 on an overhead screen,
chalkboard, white board, or poster board.
Have selected readers/speakers come to front/stage and recite verses.
E
L
P
#1: “Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. Serve the Lord with gladness:
come before his presence with singing.
#2: “Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we
ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
#3: “Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be
thankful unto him, and bless his name.
#4: “For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all
generations” (Psalm 100:1-5, KJV).
Director: I am so glad that you are here with us for opening night of Children’s
Choir (insert name of your program). You have sung our fall theme song and heard
some characters make noise. The most important part is that you have heard God’s
commandment to us to worship with shouting and singing, thanks and praise. Did you
know that being in God’s presence is one of the most important things that we can do?
God desires our worship here on earth, and worship is going on constantly in heaven.
There is a key verse in Psalm 100 that tells us how to get into God’s presence. Can you
fill in the blanks?
M
A
S
“Enter into His gates with ______________________________,
and into His courts with ____________________.”
Director: The way we get to God is by offering Him thanks and praise. It’s like a key.
(Get out your personal keys.)
Now, if I want to get into my house, I use this key. (show key) If I want to get into my office
here at church, (or use another example) I use this key (show other key), and if I want to
get into my car, I use this key (show next key). I can also press a button on this key fob
(show fob). The point is that I can’t unlock any of those doors unless I have some sort of
key, and I can’t use my house key to get into my office or car.
What did we say was the key to unlock the door to God? (Wait for responses.)
That’s right—thanks and praise. When we sing songs that tell how great God is, it gives
us access to God, just like we used a key to unlock a door.
MAKE SOME NOISE • Older Choir • Semester 1, Week 1 • Page 5
Let’s praise God together right now!
(Sing
these lines, a cappella)
How great is our God! (kids echo)
Sing with me: How great is our God! (kids echo)
And all will see how great, (Say, “Sing with me!”)
How great is our God! (all sing together)
Play demo of “How Great Is Our God,”
or use a keyboard, guitar, or live band for accompaniment.
Your Worship Team should come onstage to sing with you and lead.
E
L
P
PRAY: God, You ARE great! We praise Your name, and we tell You that You
are our God. You love to hear Your children worship You. I pray that we
will learn to worship You better in choir and will recognize that music is
not just a part of a worship service. When we sing thanks and praise, it is
like unlocking a door into Your presence. Thank You, Lord, for being here
with us today. We love You, Jesus! Amen.

MUSIC
Start demo of “10,000 Reasons (Bless the Lord)” immediately after
prayer, or have worship band/team play while you sing in the key of Eb.
(Direct the kids’ attention to the words on the screen, and lead them in worship.)
E
L
P
How many of you have heard this song before? It’s becoming one of the greatest worship
songs of all time! We will begin working on this song next week, but let’s answer some
questions about this song right now.
(You can pass out candy to the kids who answer the questions, if your group is small enough
to accommodate that. Otherwise, these can be group questions.)
• Who knows what Bible verse this song is based on? (Psalm 103)
• Can you quote it? (That’s right!)
• Does this song start with the Verse or the Chorus? (Chorus)
• Verse 1 tells us to start singing when? (when the sun comes up)
• Verse 1 tells us to continue singing when? (when the evening comes)
• Soooo… we should worship Jesus when? (ALL DAY!)
• Verse 2 tells you that Jesus is rich in ______ (love) and slow to ______ (anger).
His name is ______ (great), and His heart is ______ (kind).
• The verse tells us we have how many reasons to praise Jesus? (10,000)
• Verse 3 talks about praising Jesus at the end of our lives. But wait, our lives won’t end!
How many years will we praise Jesus? (10,000 plus FOREVER!)
M
A
S
PRAY: Lord, thank You that we can sing Your Word, and it reminds us of
Your promises and Your character. Help us learn how to worship You better
in Kids Choir, and help us notice all the reasons to praise You that are all
around us all the time. Amen.
MAKE SOME NOISE • Older Choir • Semester 1, Week 1 • Page 7
MUSIC
Have your worship team run back onstage/up front
and begin singing “Bring My Praise,” a cappella.
(There should be eight people singing one phrase each, or four people each singing two.
If they know the choreography, it would be very effective for the worship team to demonstrate
movements while they sing each phrase. Another option is to have a group of kids do the
choreography as the worship team sings the phrases.)
E
L
P
#1: You knew me before I was born.
#2: You made me special in Your eyes.
#3: You taught me how to sing Your praise.
#4: You listen when I call Your name.
#5: No one else can bring my praise but me.
#6: No one else can give my offering.
#7: You have put a love song deep inside of me.
#8: No one else can bring my praise but me.
M
A
Director: Isn’t that a great song? We are going to learn this semester that everyone has
a special part to play in God’s kingdom, and that He requires worship from each of us.
You’ve heard most of this song. We’re going to play it (with demonstration CD or live
band), and I want you to start singing along. Make this a prayer to God that you will
bring your praise to Him!
S
Play demo of “Bring My Praise,”
or use a keyboard, guitar, or live band for accompaniment.
Your Worship Team should come onstage to sing with you and lead.
MOVEMENT
• See Choreography Movements.
• Watch Video for “Bring My Praise,” and teach the choreography.

Bring My Praise
(Older Children)
Words and Music by Amanda Singer
You knew me before I was born
You made me special in Your eyes
You taught me how to sing Your praise
You listen when I call Your name

No one else can bring my praise but me
No one else can give my offering
You have put a love song deep inside of me
No one else can bring my praise but me
You knew me before I was born
You made me special in Your eyes
You taught me how to sing Your praise
You listen when I call Your name
No one else can bring my praise but me
No one else can give my offering
You have put a love song deep inside of me
No one else can bring my praise but me

I love You. I need You. I want You, Jesus.
I love You. I need You. I want You, Jesus.
I love You. I need You. I want You, Jesus.
I love You. I need You. I want You, Jesus.

Speaker 1: (over intro to “Ancient of Days”) Continue standing and worship with us.
The Ancient of Days—the God who was, and is, and is to come—is here.
Let’s give Him the honor He deserves.
S
(after “Ancient of Days”)
Speaker 5: Please be seated.
Speaker 6: (singing and dancing) Blessing and honor, glory and power, blessing and
honor, glory and power…
Speaker 5: You have to stop.
Speaker 6: Why?
Speaker 5: Because the song is over.
Speaker 6: (sheepish) What? Oops. But (stronger) I don’t want to stop!
Speaker 7: You should keep praising God! Psalm 34 says to praise the Lord at ALL
times and constantly sing His praises.

Speaker 5: W
ell, that’s easy to do when you’re happy, but what about when things
aren’t going so well?
Speaker 7: Psalm 34 also says that when you are afraid, call out to God and He will
save you. God is listening and ready to rescue you.
Speaker 6: How does He do that?
Speaker 7: We can run into His love and His truth like a collision. Wham! Crash! Bam!
Let’s collide into God!

Speaker 5: Wham! Crash! Bam! That was awesome! I am pumped!
M
A
Speaker 7: Pumped?
Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, excited, thrilled, fired up! Action words, I’m a man of action.
Speaker 7: Okay, whatever.
S
Speaker 5: I love words like kapow, shazam, hiyah! (making karate moves)
Speaker 7: Are you a superhero?
Speaker 5: No, I just think worship ought to be full of action. God is powerful you know.
Speaker 7: True, and worship is an action word. You can’t just sit there and watch others
worship.
Speaker 5: ( start “Jesus, Son of God” track) Especially when the Lord gets us fired up!
(turning to congregation) Will you stand and worship with us? It’s time to
worship Jesus for saving us.
