Signature Process Basics
§ In 2018, Candidates for U.S. Senate Only
§ Petition of Nomination Form – CAN-4 (MUST BE A 2018 Form!)
§ Valid Signatures from 500 Registered Voters from Each of the 9
Congressional Districts in Indiana
§ Most Campaigns will Try to Collect 800+ Signatures – Many Will Not Be
Valid
§ Petition Carriers Have Legal Responsibility
§ It is Tougher than It Sounds (my two cents)

§ All Non-Shaded Boxes MUST Be Filled Out Completely
§ The Petition Carrier MUST Fill Out Their Section Completely
§ Candidates Usually Ask That the Forms Be Returned To Them For
Counting and Verification

Basic Information
§ Most Campaigns, PACs, and Political Organizations Require Reporting
§ Campaigns for Some Offices are Exempt Based on the Salary of the
Position Or Amount Raised Or Spent
§ Always Keep Campaign Money Separate from Personal Money
§ Reports will either be filed at your County Clerk, State Election
Division, or Federal Election Division Based on the Office.
§ Contact Your County Clerk or the Indiana Election Division to Clarify
which Forms and Filing Schedule Apply to Your Goals Prior to Declaring
or Accepting Donations
