a meet the author night.

- A rummage and bake
sale will be held at the
South Cairo United Methodist Church, just across
the bridge off Route 23B
in South Cairo from 9
a.m. until 2 p.m. both
days.
- The 400th birthday of
Pieter Bronck, who built
the original 1663 stone
house on the Bronck Museum property, will be
celebrated at the museum
in Coxsackie from 1-4
p.m. There will be live
music, food, craft demonstrations, costumed interpreters, farm animals,
games, children’s activities, and the first tasting
of Pieter’s Brew, a specially crafted beer prepared by Crossroads
Brewery of Athens. This
event is free.
- A rabies clinic for
Greene County cats, dogs
and ferrets will be held at
the Leeds Firehouse,
Route 23B in Leeds from
6-8 p.m. Please call ahead
for ferrets (518) 7193600. Please bring a record of your pet’s previous vaccination to receive
a 3-year certificate. If no
record is shown, a 1-year
vaccination will be given.
Donations are highly encouraged.

- The Rip Van Winkle
Wine, Brew and Beverage
Festival will be held, rain
or shine, at Historic Catskill Point in Catskill,
11:30 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Live music, food and vendors. $25 per person. All
proceeds donated to
Dutchman’s Landing and
Elliott Park playgrounds
for upkeep and new
equipment. Bring your
driver’s license.

- Greenville Town
Board meets 7 p.m. at
Pioneer Hall.
May 16
- Annual school budget
and board of education
vote for most schools in
New York State. In
Greenville, voting is from
1-9 p.m. in the elementary
cafeteria.
- Durham Town Board
meets 7:30 p.m. at town
hall.
May 17
- A career fair for students in grades 7-11, parents, community members, business leaders,
teachers and school administrators will be held
at Colu mbia -Greene
Community College, 4400
Route 23 in Hudson from
4:30-7:30 p.m.
May 19
- The 7th annual Greene
County Senior Citizen
Day will be held at the
Freightmaster’s Building
at Historic Catskill Point,
1 Main Street in Catskill
from 12-3 p.m. This
year’s theme is 50s Sock
Hop. Food, music and

Legislature’s annual
Honor a Vet memorial
ceremony for Specialist

“Johnny” Lyles will be
held on the steps of the
Greene County Courthouse, 320 Main Street in
Catskill at 10 a.m. sharp.

- The Friends of the
Cairo Library will sponsor
a used-book sale 10 a.m.
to 2 p.m. at shed behind
the library. The Friends
will also be selling tickets
for the Quilt Raffle all
summer, for the quilt
which will be raffled in
August. Thanks to the
Cairo Piecemakers who
made the quilt.

homes that will be held in
Greenville on Saturday,
June 3 from 10 a.m. until
4 p.m. Tour headquarters
will be in the North Barn
at George V. Vanderbilt
Town Park, just off Route
32 in the hamlet. Advance
tickets are $25 and may
be purchased by sending a
check payable to the
Greene County Historical
Society, PO Box 44, Coxsackie, NY 12051. Tickets
can also be purchased at
tour headquarters the day
of the tour for $30. Proceeds from ticket sales
support the Greene
County Historical Society,
the Bronck Museum and
Vedder Research Library.
