JOIN US IN A WORLD RECORD ATTEMPT! Dear World Record Breaker! Thank you for your interest in joining us in our World Record Attempt for 2017! On 17th June, Skyline, alongside The Fire Fighters Charity we will be attempting to smash all previous records for skydiving. The aim is to complete the most tandem jumps in England in 24 hours… and we need your help! Imagine yourself exiting from the door of an aircraft from over 2 and half miles up and freefalling at a speed of 120mph through the clouds, before gliding back down to your envious supporters on the ground below. Skydiving is an unbelievable and exhilarating rush like no other and with no experience required - it’s your opportunity to reach for the skies and be part of a World Record! The Fire Fighters Charity is a registered Charity and we are the UK's leading provider of services that enhance the quality of life for serving and retired firefighters, fire personnel and their families. Our vision is to make a positive difference by supporting people in the fire and rescue community when they are in need. Over the years, we have helped hundreds of thousands of individuals by providing world-class treatment and support services. It costs over £9 million per year to keep the Charity running, and we are completely reliant upon donations and fundraising, so your support is very much needed. As you will see from the enclosed literature we ask you to raise £395 in sponsorship money in order for you to jump for free and in turn we will receive an average donation of £140. In addition to this, every extra pound that you raise over the minimum comes straight to the charity, so please try to raise as much as you possibly can! With over 20 years experience and more than 100,000 successful and happy jumpers, myself and the team here at Skyline aim to give you the best, adrenaline filled experience possible. We’ll tell you everything you need to know and will be on hand to answer all of your questions, giving you the time to get yourself prepared for the ultimate challenge! Simply read on for us to show you just how easy realising your skydiving dream can be… Kind regards Clare Oh and don’t forget, everything in this information pack is available online at our dedicated parachuting and skydiving website www.skylineparachuting.co.uk/worldrecord where you can also book online! Ok, I’m interested in being a World Record Breaker but what exactly is a tandem skydive? A tandem skydive is the most popular and frequently chosen type of jump by novice and first time thrill seekers – you don’t need any previous experience at all to do this jump! You’ll be attached to a fully qualified instructor who controls your jump from start to finish; they will do all the hard work for you, allowing you to catch your breath and enjoy the ride! Before the skydive begins your instructor will provide you with a training session, show you all the equipment that is used and talk you through what’s going to happen, allowing you to feel comfortable and at ease with your upcoming adventure. After the training session is over you’ll prepare to fly up to over 2 and half miles above the ground with 4-6 like-minded tandem skydivers - this is where your adventure really starts to get real! Once you’re at the correct altitude, your instructor will let you know it’s time to move over to the exit door of the plane… All that’s left to do now is jump! Your exhilarating freefall will blow your mind as you descend (at 120mph!) before your instructor deploys your parachute, giving you the chance to really settle in to your skydive. From here you will experience a peaceful canopy ride as you slowly glide back down to earth to meet your supporters with a smile on your face, before picking up your well-deserved certificate, happy in the knowledge you are a World Record holder! Although it’ll be an experience difficult to forget, you can also hire a cameraman to document your amazing day with a video and photographs. I’m ready! Where can I jump from? There are 8 jump sites involved in our exciting World Record Attempt on 17th June. All airfields are fully approved by the British Parachute Association and are UK wide, so wherever you live there’ll be an airfield for you! Below is a map to show the jump sites involved in our World Record Attempt. Just put a tick in the box on your reservation form (enclosed) when you’ve chosen your airfield and we’ll get you booked in. Paying your sponsorship money The following sponsorship system makes it easy for you to take part and ensures that you do not have to pay all of your sponsorship money in advance. At all airfields you must pay for your jump and training on the day but your money to charity is not due until four weeks after you have completed your jump. Remember, as long as you raise the minimum sponsorship level of £395 for your jump, you can recover both the cost of the booking deposit and the jump from your sponsorship money - which means you get to jump for FREE! Paying for your jump and sponsorship money Booking Deposit Whichever airfield you jump at you must provide the standard £70 booking deposit which must be sent in advance but can be taken out of the minimum sponsorship that you raise. Tandem Skydive Payment for your jump will be required on the day which varies from airfield to airfield but is generally between £190-£220. You must also provide the remaining sponsorship money due to the charity by cheque but this can be post-dated by up to four weeks. This post-dated method of payment makes it as easy as possible for you, allowing you plenty of time to collect your sponsorship money after the jump before it is due to the charity Precise instructions on how to operate the above system (including how much to pay your local airfield on the day and how much sponsorship money is due to the charity) will be sent to you upon receipt of your reservation form and booking deposit. Reserve your place today and break a record! What do I do now? Simply fill in the enclosed reservation form, along with your chosen airfield. There is a small deposit to pay which is required to reserve your place and then the balance of your jump can be paid on the day. If there are any problems we’ll give you a call as soon as we get your form for a friendly chat. Alternatively, we also have a website where you can book too. Here you can also book for group members (if any of your friends want to join you in your World Record Attempt skydiving adventure). Just head over to www.skylineparachuting.co.uk/worldrecord and hit the ‘Book Online’ button. Simple! In order for you to recover reimbursement of the booking deposit and the cost of the training and the jump, you must raise £395 as detailed in the ‘Paying Your Sponsorship Money’ page enclosed in this pack. 2. The cost for the training and the jump must be paid on the day of training and this payment is totally non-refundable even if you do not jump for any reason. 3. Should the weather be unsuitable for jumping on the day it will be up to you to return to the parachute centre on another occasion(s) if necessary to complete your jump. 4. All booking deposits are completely non-refundable. However, the standard booking deposit is valid for twelve months from the date of booking and should you be unable to complete your jump due to inclement weather alternative arrangements will be made. This fee is payable to Skyline Promotions Ltd and covers various costs including without limitation assisting you to find an airfield where you may carry out your jump . 5. Should you cancel or postpone your jump within 2 weeks of your jump date, or fail to attend the airfield on your jump date, a fee of £50 will be charged to the same credit/debit card that you supplied for your initial deposit payment. This fee is in addition to the standard booking deposit and is not in any way deductible from any sponsorship money raised for charity. 6. Skyline Promotions Ltd in consideration of the payment of the booking deposit will take all reasonable steps to arrange your jump at your nearest available parachute centre but since parachuting is a very popular sport, we may be forced to offer you an alternative due to lack of availability at some centres. Skyline Promotions Ltd acts as your agent in arranging for your jump and not as the agent for the parachute centre. Skyline Promotions Ltd use only those parachute centres which are affiliated to the British Parachute Association as the National Governing Body of the sport. Accordingly, no representations or warranties of any kind are made by Skyline Promotions Ltd as to the suitability, capability, quality of training or operation of any parachute centre. Any queries or complaints with regards to these aspects should be referred to the parachute centre concerned. Medical Restrictions For a tandem jump you must weigh under 15 stone with your weight in proportion to your height. Please note some centres have lower weight limits - please contact us for details. The principal medical restrictions are diabetes, epilepsy, fits, recurrent blackouts, heart or lung disease, mental illness and some cases of asthma but if you are in any doubt please contact us for further information. You will be required to sign a medical form before your jump declaring your fitness to take part - this will be sent to you upon receipt of your reservation form but is also available on request. Those under the age of 18 will need the medical form signed by a parent or guardian; those aged 40 and over, or those with a medical condition, will need it signed by their doctor. Insurance On payment to the parachute centre of the fee for the training and the jump, all jumpers are covered by the British Parachute Association Liability Insurance Policy up to £2 million for liability to Third Parties. Please note that this does not cover you or your dependants for personal injury including death. You are therefore strongly recommended to take out your own insurance cover for personal accident benefits to whatever level you consider appropriate. You can do this either in conjunction with your own insurance broker or you may call us on the number below and we will send you a parachuting Personal Insurance Form. If in any doubt you should seek independent advice. IMPORTANT NOTICE Parachuting is an adventure sport and participation in such sports necessarily involves a risk of injury or death regardless of the standard of training, supervision and equipment employed. I voluntarily accept all the risks inherent in the sport and I agree for myself and my personal representatives to indemnify and hold harmless Skyline Promotions Ltd against any claim or claims whether on my own account or from third parties arising out of any accident or incident resulting in any loss or damage (including bodily injury and death). I confirm I have read all the above sections marked Booking Terms and Conditions, Medical Restrictions, Insurance and Important Notice, and I understand and agree to be bound to those terms and conditions and to comply fully with the same.
