The Science of the Age Refining Technology (A.R.T.) Skin Care System (To view a short video on this effective skin care system visit www.bit.ly/artskin ) Young Living has taken the finest ingredients, and combined them with the latest skin care technology, to create a system that enhances your skin’s natural ability to rebuild DNA and restore youthful skin: Age Refining Technology (ART). The ART line was introduced in October 2004. Daily use of the ART skin care system results in improved skin tone and texture and reduction of wrinkles. Even those with the most sensitive skin can use this incredible therapeutic grade essential oil skin care system. In 7 years of experience with this system we have never had anyone have a negative reaction to this product... a powerful statement to be able to make! Many who were very loyal to their "usual brand" of skin care products, no matter how organic or pure they were, did not return to their previous product after using the ART system for 6 weeks>! A.R.T. Skin Care System ¡ A superior concept in skin restoration ¡ Combines DNA recovery enzymes – an advanced technology – with a proprietary Anti-Aging Peptide Complex, ¡ Reduces the look of fine lines and wrinkles, diminish age spots, evens skin tone and increases the elasticity and density of your skin. ¡ Young Living has added Frankincense and Sandalwood for their ability to replenish DNA ¡ Wolfberry Seed Oil, known for its superior moisturizing and skin conditioning properties ¡ A truly unique and effective skin care system. Key Features of the A.R.T. System 1) Promotes superior skin recovery with 2 innovative enzymes, and a proprietary blend of pure essential oils, which can enhance recovery and reduce premature aging of the skin. Photolyase ¡ Light-activated and suitable for day use. ¡ This enzyme uses light to enhance your skin’s ability to replenish DNA segment in the damaged cell. ¡ 30 minutes of moderate light provides a significant amount of energy for the enzyme ¡ Allows the skin to be 60% more effective at DNA renewal Endonuclease ¡ Uses energy in your body to cut damaged DNA segment, reproduce the original segment before damage, and insert the new segment back into the correct place in the cell’s DNA structure. Essential Oils Frankincense and Sandalwood ¡ Support and sustain the skin’s ability to renew DNA. 2) Reduces the look of fine lines, wrinkles and age spots by enhancing the skin’s ability to produce collagen and elastin. Anti-Aging Peptide Complex ¡ Delivers a revolutionary Anti-Aging Peptide Complex that includes Matrixyl™ 3000, ¡ Helps increase the density of the skin by producing collagen I, III, IV and fibronectin by a factor of at least 200% Vitamin C ¡ Provides Vitamin C which, when combined with Matrixyl, produces a 50% increase in skin matrix regeneration than the Anti-Aging Peptide Complex alone. Wolfberry Seed Oil ¡ Contains the legendary Wolfberry Seed Oil for added moisturizing properties ¡ Rare and expensive oil from Inner Mongolia ¡ Extracted from seeds of Ningxia variety of Lycium berry ¡ Rich in Vitamin E, Linoleic acid, and Linolenic acid ¡ Has unusual chemistry that makes it ideal for nourishing and hydrating the skin ¡ Helps protect aging skin and adds luster to the skin 3) Advanced delivery technology ensures skin is getting the maximum benefit and a more efficient application. Laminar phase technology ¡ Delivers an equal amount of the active ingredients along the surface of the skin and forms a barrier that allows greater penetration and efficacy. ¡ This same barrier also retains moisture and protects the skin from the environment. Advanced Liposome technology ¡ Advanced Liposome technology delivers ingredients faster, and in greater concentrations, to the lower layers of the skin. What the heck is Advanced Liposome Technology? So what is a Liposome and why does it make the ART system special? A liposome is a type of lipid nanoparticle, an extremely small (1/2 the width of a human hair), multi-layered bubble (called a vesicle). Liposomes have a fat-soluble exterior and an interior that is watery. They are made from the same type of material as our cell membranes, phospholipids. A liposome can be thought of as a hollow sphere whose size ranges from 30 nanometers to 10,000 nanometers or 10 microns. A nanometer, usually abbreviated as nm, is 1 millionth of a millimeter. For comparison, a red blood cell is about 8,000 nanometers and viruses range from 25 - 200 nanometers. Liposomes are made from phospholipid molecules which are the same molecules that comprise cell membranes. Phospholipids are amphipathic, that is, part of their structure is water-soluble (hydrophilic or water-loving) and the other part is oil-like (hydrophobic or water-fearing or fat-soluble). Therefore, when added to water, the water-soluble part of the phospholipid interacts with the water and the oil-like part of the molecule avoids the water. The interior of liposomes is filled with water and therefore, molecules which are soluble in water can be encapsulated in the interior of the liposome. A less recognized but very important property of liposomes is that molecules which are not water soluble, or oil-like (i.e. sandalwood and frankincense oil) , can be entrapped in the oil-like portion of the phospholipid bilayer. Consequently, liposomes can serve as carriers for all types of molecules including both water-soluble and water-insoluble compounds. In fact, a single liposome can carry both types of molecules or combinations of each type of molecule The unique structure of liposomes allows them to penetrate tissues allowing for rapid release into the deeper layers. A paper published in 1965 (Bangham, A.D., Standish, M.M. and Watkins, J.C. (1965) J. Mol. Biol. 13, 238-252) described these vesicles for the first time. Since then they have been the subject of great interest and study. A liposomal delivery system of certain anticancer drugs has been used to target various malignancies, and other applications for liposomes range from gene therapy to skin care. Currently there are almost 35,000 articles listed on the PubMed website (www.pubmed.gov) that relate to studies done using liposomes. How does the use of Liposome Technology make the ART system more effective? In the case of the ART skin care system, the liposomes transport sandalwood and frankincense oil to the deep dermal layers of the skin where they can have a more powerful clinical effect. When these oils are applied to the surface of the skin they may dissipate or evaporate before reaching the deepest dermal layers. The arrow in the diagram, above, shows where the essential oil could be located in the liposome. Along with the high quality ingredients, this advanced technology one of the reasons is why the ART system is so clinically effective. Conclusion: Our experience with Second Chance Facial Rejuvenation® treatments is that the use of the ART skin care system compliments the effect of the Micro-current facial rejuvenation treatments.
