LORD OF THE FLIES Syllabus
Imagine you are on a deserted island with a group of people all your own age. No rules or restrictions bound your free spirits.
No homework, no projects, no searching for archetypal meanings, NO SCHOOL! You bask in the warm, tropical sunshine of your
newfound freedom.
British author William Golding uses this premise for his book. However, this is NOT an adventure story! It is an extremely dark
look at the nature of mankind and a glimpse of a society that has no boundaries. What happens when we abandon traditional
values and pursue selfish pleasure only?
A warning: LOTF is a brutal, sometimes horrifying book. You may question why we read this. Golding simply asks his readers to
determine if man truly has a good or evil nature.
