WELCOME
FORTHCOMING PRODUCTIONS
It’s 2017, and we’re already half way through our season,
but what a second half we have to come, with junior,
youth and adult productions filling up the next few
months. But, before we look forward we should take
a moment to glance back. Whilst somewhat late, we
would like to take the opportunity to praise cast and crew
of our last two productions, ‘And Then There Were None’
and ‘Aladdin’. Both went down fantastically well with
audiences and critics alike, receiving nominations from
NODA. A huge well done for such wonderful work by the
directors, production team and cast.

brought to life through a light, funny script with fantastic
musical numbers.
Synopsis…
Alice’s adventures begin on a warm, summer’s day when
she falls asleep by the riverside but is soon awoken by a
White Rabbit, clearly in a state of panic. Alice chases after
the strange creature but tumbles down a hole where she
discovers a magical world of crazy creatures from a Mad
Hatter, to the Queen of Hearts. Will Alice find her way
home?
The show was sold out and went down fantastically well
with audiences over all three performances.
YOUTH GROUP - AVENUE Q- SCHOOL EDITION
Following the success of the Adult society’s production
in 2015, the youth group are performing the hilarious
musical Avenue Q, but this time the School Edition.
Synopsis…
This laugh-out-loud musical tells the timeless story of a
recent college grad named Princeton, who moves into a
shabby New York apartment all the way out on Avenue Q.
He soon discovers that, although the residents seem nice,
it’s clear that this is not your ordinary neighbourhood.
Together, Princeton and his new-found friends struggle
to find jobs, dates and their ever-elusive purpose in
life. Filled with gut-busting humour a delightfully catchy
score, and not to mention puppets!!! Avenue Q is a truly
unique show that has quickly become a favourite for
audiences everywhere. The original script and content
has been adapted to make it more appropriate for
younger audiences.
Performances take place at The Met Theatre, Bury from
8th – 11th March 2017. Tickets are priced at £10.00 and
are available from our website, usual booking forms
(included with this letter) or via the Met box office.
ADULTS - THE FULL MONTY
PADOS AWARDS EVENING AND DINNER DANCE
Next on the horizon is our adult production of “The Full
Monty”! Based on the cult hit film of the same name, the
show is filled with honest affection, engaging melodies
and the most highly anticipated closing number of
any show!!! The production will be directed by Mark
Rosenthal, with choreography by Helen Marland and
musical direction by Sarah Osmond.
The PADOS annual awards dinner has been arranged for
Saturday the 6th May, again at Middleton Masonic Club
(The Pavilion). Tickets will be available via the box office
along with further details nearer the time.
Synopsis…
Whilst spying on their wives at a “Girl’s’ Night Out,” a group
of unemployed steelworkers from Buffalo observe how
much the women enjoy watching male strippers. Jealous,
out of work and feeling emasculated, the men come
up with a bold and unclothed way to make some quick
cash. Whilst preparing, they find themselves extremely
exposed; not merely physically but emotionally. As they
conquer their fears, self-consciousness and prejudices,
the men come to discover that they’re stronger as a
group, and the strength that they find in each other gives
them the individual courage to “let it go.” The Full Monty
is a story full of heart. With a raucous mix of razor-sharp
humour and toe-tapping pizzazz, this heartwarming,
upbeat comedy is a must for any theatre lover.
SPRING CLEAN

– 29th April 2017. Tickets are priced at £10.00/ £12.00

Hobson’s Choice. Directed by John Flay in the play’s
100th year anniversary, PADOS are proud to present this
theatre favourite.
Synopsis…
In Salford it’s the time of revolution. The revolution is
not industrial, but feminine. Told through a bold and
humorous script, the play also shows without fantasy,
the life of the Salford folk and the social connections and
customs that gave their life order. A play with some real
grit, humour and drama, be sure you do not miss out!

at PADOS House from 5pm onwards. The auditions will
be in the form of a read through with people allowed to
read for their preferred role. - Character break down is
available on the Noticeboard of the website.
Performances take place at PADOS Studio Theatre 12th
– 17th June 2017. Tickets are priced at £8.00 and are
available from the website or the usual booking forms.
PADOS HOUSE
As ever there are plenty of jobs that need picking up
in and around our little theatre, including giving Pados
a much needed spring clean! If you feel that you could
help in anyway, no matter how big or small then contact
George Bellis. We will be arranging a clean up day in
the coming weeks so please keep an eye on the website
and social media if you wish to help out. Please bear in
mind that the building does not look after itself, it is your
building and many hands make light work!
THE BAR
As a result of an increase in prices at the wholesalers, you
will see a small increase in prices at the bar. In an effort to
‘look after our own’ we will be introducing a two-tiered
pricing system over the next few weeks. That is, nonmembers will pay more for drinks than members will. In
order to take advantage of this, please ensure you have
your green membership card with you when purchasing
drinks (please check with Anne-Marie if you require a
new one) however we will also endeavour to have a list
of paid-up members behind the bar. It is hoped that this
measure (along with some other ideas in the pipeline)
may help to encourage membership renewal and enable
us to offer benefits to purchasing membership to our
wonderful society.
SUBSCRIPTIONS
A gentle reminder that any outstanding subscriptions
should be paid to Anne Marie Beck or via the website.
Find the ‘Join Us’ tab on the drop down menu then
on the ‘Noticeboard tab’ follow the links for the Adult
Membership. Annual Subs are £30.
