MOVING OUT OF MAC RESIDENCE
2017
Guidelines for resident students in Laird Hall and Eco-residence on Macdonald Campus.
As you prepare for your move out, please take the time to READ this guide which outlines the entire process.
Remember: your lease expires on Sunday April 30th, 2017 and all rooms must be vacated on this date.
ROOM & APARTMENT
INSPECTIONS
RULES AND CLAUSES
OF THE LEASE
1. The lease (occupant) shall
hand in all the furniture,
equipment and other objects
placed within the leased
premises in good condition, save
reasonable wear and tear.
2. Upon end of the lease, the
tenant must not leave in the
dwelling any moveable effects
other than those belonging to
the landlord.
3. The tenant agrees to pay for
any damages caused by him/her.
4. Upon expiry of the lease, the
Lessee shall hand in the keys to
the Campus Office (LH 107),
during working hours Monday
through Friday, and at night and
weekends, to the Security Office
(LH 101).
RETURN KEYS
Students can hand in their keys to the Campus Housing Office
(LH 107) during working hours Monday through Friday, and at
nights and weekends, to the Security Office (LH 101)
NOTE
Students who are returning to residence for fall 2017 must
make the payment deposit by April 26, 2017. Failure to
receive this deposit will result in the cancellation of your
application and your room will be offered to another student.
Your room will be inspected
shortly after April 30, 2017.
Any
intentional
damages,
replacement or extra cleaning
costs will be charged to your
student account. In double
rooms, the charge will be split
amongst the two residents.
For common rooms (kitchen,
bathroom, living room, dining
room) the cost will be divided up
amongst all residents of the unit
evenly. These costs are outlined
below:

MOVE OUT CHECKLIST
Clean your room – closet, dresser & drawers empty and wiped, mattress lifted &
dusted underneath.
Clean your apartment – bathrooms (toilet, floor, shower, sink), kitchen (stove, fridge,
freezer, counters, cabinets), living room/dining room (sweep, wipe down furniture),
hallways (sweep)
Empty out your food & personal belongings from the kitchen fridges, freezers and
lockers
Laird Hall: defrost & clean out your mini-fridge (use a trolley from Floor 1, take your
fridge from your room to the closest bathroom and leave it near a drain, defrost &
return to your room.
Do not leave any personal items in the bedrooms
Empty out recycling containers
Make sure to leave your room the way you found it on move-in; this will eliminate the
chances of being charged for extra cleaning fees and/or damages.
STORAGE
Storage space on campus is very
limited and only available to
students returning to residence.
The University is not responsible
for any theft or damages.
Laird Hall Storage:
Each student is allowed:
5 boxes and 2 suitcases/bags.
Boxes are sold at the Campus
Housing Office for $2 each,
quantities are limited.
*You will only be allowed access
to your boxes and suitcases as of
Monday August 28th – please
plan your packing accordingly.
