Health/ Safety /Environmental Information
Building Security and Access
The Maricopa Community College District Office has a written emergency response plan that identifies
the need for employees to evacuate during specific emergencies. During an evacuation, building
occupants are expected to safely evacuate the District Office and report to the Assembly Point.
Employees are asked to complete the District Emergency Evacuation Orientation workshop located at
the following link: http://www.maricopa.edu/employees/divisions/hr_train/evac/ If you have problems
or questions, please contact Michael Bryant at X18311.
Building Security can be reached by dialing 18911 from any phone within the District Office building.
Normal business hours for the District Office are:
Standard Hours (Beginning of August to End of May) Monday - Friday
Summer Hours (End of May to Beginning of August) Monday –Thursday
8:00 am – 5:00 pm
7:00 am – 6:00 pm
Building keys can be requested by submitting a work request at the Security Desk located on the 1st Floor,
and are issued with supervisory approval. Note - The building is unlocked from 6:00 am – 6:00 pm Monday –
Friday during standard hours, closed on Fridays during summer hours.
ADA Requests can be made by contacting Employee Relations at Ext. 18480.
In Case of Fire
In the event of a fire, locate and activate the alarm nearest you. There is a red manual pull evacuation
alarm close to every building exit. Be prepared to use it the instant you become aware of a fire. This will
sound all alarm bells and initiate evacuation. DO NOT use the elevators. Exit the building using the
staircases that are located on the North and South ends of the building. The alarm will automatically
notify fire-fighting authorities. Once outside the building, report to your assembly point. You will be
notified when it is safe to re-enter the building. If the alarm stops sounding, continue to your assembly
point.
Medical Emergency
In case of a medical emergency, contact 9-911. Automatic external defibrillators (AED) are located near the
elevators on the first, third and 6 floors. Designated employees throughout the building are certified to use this
device.
Elevator Emergency
Use the phones located in the elevators in case of an elevator malfunction or emergency to contact the
Security Desk.

Environmental Waste
For disposal of toner, submit a Help Desk request. For questions regarding environmental waste, please contact
the Facilities department at Ext. 18912.
Safety and Health Concerns
For specific safety and health concerns, contact the MCCCD Risk Manager, Ruth Unks, Ext. 18879.
Parking
Parking stickers are available at the Security Desk and should be placed in the lower left hand corner of
the windshield. All District Office employees should have a valid parking sticker on vehicles that are
routinely parked at the District Office. Security stickers indicate that vehicles are authorized to use the
parking area and allows Security to alert you to situations involving your vehicle. The parking structure
and building are monitored with the assistance of security cameras. If you are not comfortable going to
your vehicle after dark, a member of the Security Team will be happy to escort you.
If interested in car-pooling or bus routes, contact Dennis Ellsworth or visit the Trip Reduction Program
website at: http://www.maricopa.edu/trip/.
Reserved parking spaces are available for a nominal fee that benefits the MCCCD student scholarship
fund. For more information, contact the Foundation office at Ext. 18400.

free and tobacco free environment, effective July 1, 2012. Smoking (including the use of “e-cigs”) and all
