XY User Manual
Getting started with XY is easy
Open your XY Find It to remove the yellow battery tab
• Here’s a video that shows you how to open your XY Find It using a flat-head screwdriver. You can
also use a nickel coin. You may need to apply moderate pressure.
• Completely remove the yellow tab separating the battery from the device.
• To close the XY Find It device, squeeze the two sides together until you hear a click.
Make sure Bluetooth & Location Services are enabled on your device
Install the free XY Find It app and create a user account
• Download the app from the Apple App Store here or the Google Play store here.
• Follow the instructions within the app to create an account using an email address or your
Facebook account.
Log into your XY user account through the XY app
• The first screen you see is the “My Items” screen where any XY Find It beacons you add,
will show up. This screen is divided in 2 sections. The right side shows any items
that have the alerts turned off. The left side shows items with the alerts turned on. This
will determine whether or not an “out of range” alert is triggered when the XY Find It goes out of
Bluetooth range of your device to help you avoid losing your items in the first place.
Add your new XY Find It to “claim” it
• Tap on the “+” sign on the upper right hand corner of the “My Items” screen. It will take a
few seconds for the XY Find It to connect with your phone. The circle in the center of the
screen will fill and turn green.
• After the XY Find It completes the syncing process, you’ll be prompted to name the XY Find It and
take a photo of the item you will attach to it, and you’re all set!
Using your XY Find It
The XY app has several features to help you avoid losing what matters to you. Below we explain those
features and how you can enable/disable them to get the most out of your XY Find It.
Out of range alerts (KeepNear notifications)
• When your XY Find It goes out of Bluetooth range of the device running the XY app, the app would
trigger an “out of range” push notification through your device, letting you know so you can go back
and retrieve your item and avoid losing it in the first place.
• To turn the alerts on/off, simply perform a long tap on the item from the “My Items screen”, a
window will slide up where you can select to turn alerts off/on.

Map (Last known location)
• When your XY Find It goes out of range, the app would also capture on the map the last
approximate location where your device had contact with the XY Find It before going out of range, to
help you recall where you last left your item and go back to retrieve it.
• To view the map, simply select your item by tapping on the photo of the item from the “My Items”
screen, the next page will display the map.
Beep to Find
• If your item is nearby, but you still can’t locate it, you can make your XY Find It beep to help you
locate it.
• On iOS devices, you can beep your XY Find It by tapping on your item from the “My Items” screen,
tap on the signal
icon on the bottom of the screen (next to “map”), then tap on “beep”.
• On Android devices, tap on your item from the “My Items” screen, then tap on “Signal” on the
upper right corner, then tap on “beep”.
Community “Lost and found”
• If you’ve lost something connected to an XY Find It and can’t locate it yourself, you can mark it as
“Lost” and the next time any device running the XY app goes within range of your item, you’ll receive a
private notification with its most recent location. Only you’ll receive this notification; your XY Find It
won’t be visible in any other user’s app or map screen.
• To enable this feature on iOS devices, tap on the item from the “My Items” screen, then tap on the
icon on the bottom right corner that says “More”, then tap on “Help! I lost it!".
• On Android devices, after selecting your item, simply tap on the alert
icon on the
upper right corner and confirm your action on the pop up screen.
Change photo or rename your XY Find It
• You can change the photo or the name of your XY Item anytime. On iOS, after selecting your item,
tap on the gear
symbol on the upper right corner of the screen. From this page you can edit the
name and/or change the photo.
• On Android, after selecting your item, simply tap on the pencil
icon. From this page you can
edit the name and/or photo.
Removing an XY Find It from your account
• If you ever wish to stop tracking an XY Find It on your user account, such as when you want to give
it to a family member, you would first need to remove it from your account so they can add it under
their own account.
• On iOS devices, tap on your XY Find It from the “My Items” screen, then tap on the gear
symbol on the upper right corner of the screen, then tap on “Unlink from Account".
• On Android, after selecting your item, simply tap on the trash can
icon on the upper right
corner of the screen, then confirm your action.
**If you have a new XY Find It that shows as “claimed” when you’re trying to add it for the first time,
