2016 U.S. National Jump Rope Championship – June 27-July 2, 2016
We will send reminders and updates leading up to our event at Walt Disney World Resort/ESPN Wide
World of Sports, HP Field House. Here are a few notes to help you prepare. Please share with your team
and parents attending.
Where are we staying at the Pop Century Resort?
The Pop Century Resort is made up of five housing sections: The 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s. The resort is
set up where you can walk to The Classic Hall or main lobby area where shopping and dining in about 5
minutes from any of those locations. We will be told where our group will be housed one week before
arrival and I will update the coaches so they can inform their team.
Do the hotel rooms have refrigerators?
Yes, every room has a small refrigerator. I would suggest if you aren’t on a meal plan that you grab
something the night before from the Pop, Shop and Dining location in the main building and put it in
your refrigerator for the next morning. Great selections! Pop in and choose food from any of 7 stations:
grab ’n’ go items, grill fare, pizza, pasta, sandwiches, healthy choices and ethnic cuisine. Specialties
include oven-fired flatbreads and house-made desserts.
Where will the buses pick us up and will it be a Disney bus or a private bus for our event?
Once we have our housing designated at the resort, our private buses will be scheduled to pick us up in
the parking lot closest to our hotel rooms. This information will be included in the information I send out
once we are assigned housing. The bus ride takes about 10 minutes from hotel to venue.
MANDATORY COACHES Check-in/Registration
Check in will be held at the Wide World of Sports Complex, HP Field House, Monday, June 27th from 2-6
p.m. You will need to arrive at Pop Century to check into your hotel and board the bus for the HP Field
House for registration this year.
NEW Pep Rally and Opening Ceremony
Monday, June 27th! This is a change from last year, so please make sure you and your athletes are in
attendance. We will have a Pep Rally hosted by Disney at 6 p.m. at the Wide World of Sports HP Field
House. The athletes should arrive upstairs in the auxiliary gym by 5:30 p.m. to get lined up. We will have
a DJ, professional host and surprise characters to celebrate with us. The Parade of Athletes will happen
at this time with the National Anthem sung by a Disney professional singer and the Championship will be
declared open. This will take the place of the Parade of Athletes on opening day. PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF
THIS AND SHARE WITH YOUR TEAM! This will be fun and exciting with Disney fanfare, so we want all of
our athletes to experience this.

Pre-Order Food Delivery to the ESPN Wide World of Sports HP Field House
Did you know you can order box lunches for your whole team to be delivered to the HP Field House? If

Disney Waivers
I have attached the Waivers that Disney requires for each coach, athlete and spectator/judge staying on
package. THIS YEAR, Disney has asked that all Waivers be filled out and completed PRIOR to your arrival
and put into alphabetical order. Please have the Coach on top, athletes clipped together in alphabetical
order and spectators/packages together in alphabetical order. This will make the process go much faster
at check-in.
Bring your team banners
You will be able to hang your team banners after the parade of athletes, Sunday, June 26th. If you have
zip ties, bring them along, if not, we will try to have extras.
Practice Times
Practice will open at the ESPN Wide World of Sports, HP Field House, Monday, June 27th at 2 p.m.
Buses will begin pick up at the Pop Century Resort at 1 p.m. and run back and forth to the HP Field
House until practice ends and everyone is taken back to the hotel. Practice will be open until 9 p.m. The
practice floor will stay open with bus transport nightly until 9 p.m. during the duration of the event.
Don’t forget the Pep Rally and Opening Ceremony on Monday, June 27th.
Bring your umbrellas and ponchos
Florida is known for rain in the summer, so remind everyone to bring a small umbrella or poncho for
those unexpected showers and maybe a pair of shoes or flip flops to change into if it’s raining so they
don’t get their competition shoes wet.
Disney Magic Bands
Most of you should have received information from Walt Disney World once your package reservations
were made on how to set up your profile and to order your Magic Bands. YOU DO NOT NEED YOUR
BANDS FROM LAST YEAR if you were in attendance. Please visit mydisneyexperience.com or download
the app on your phone and get this done right away. If you haven’t ordered already, you may have to
pick your band up at the front desk/registration. You will need your confirmation number for your
package to link to your Magic Band. We do not handle this part of registration, so if you have any
problems, please contact Walt Disney World directly at the number they provide from this website.
Gift Cards for the Scholarship Fund
We ask for your teams to donate gift cards for our Scholarship daily raffle. This has been a wonderful
fund raiser year after year and has continued to support our Scholarship Fund. Any donation will be
greatly appreciated. We will be happy to pick up your cards at Check In.
