APL-PB
AirwayPlus Lifecast - Pulses/Breathing (APL-PB)
The TraumaFX® AirwayPlus Lifecast - Pulses/Breathing (APL-PB) medical simulator was created specifically to address the treatment of
traumatic upper body injuries and incorporates pulses, breathing, and real-time feedback to create a uniquely realistic training experience for
Medics and First Responders. Using the APL-PB, learners are able to physically locate both radial and carotid pulses, assess breathing patterns
and use this information to perform appropriate interventions. As the student administers treatment, trainers receive instant feedback of performance via the easy-to-use Remote Control to assess student performance and provide After Action Reporting (AAR).
The APL-PB is constructed with a durable urethane core and specially formulated, life-like silicone skin, and is designed to operate in inhospitable
conditions and tough, outdoor scenarios. The APL-PB is an extremely effective multipurpose training tool allowing learners to perform critical
life-saving tasks that include maintaining an airway, needle decompression, cricothyroidotomy, intraosseous infusion, and chest tube insertion.
The APL-PB can be connected to any TraumaFX® lower trainer to increase training capabilities.
Key Benefits of TraumaFX® APL-PB:

Multiple sensors relay results to trainer in real-time, taking the guesswork out of simulation

Simulated breathing and coordinated breath sounds in 4 quadrants

Palpable radial and carotid pulse points

Simulates tension pneumothorax in either side with appropriate physiologic cues

Infusible Intraosseous (I/O) trainer at the humerus

Bilateral chest tube insertion sites with replaceable, multiple use skin plugs

Flexible jaw with internal tracheal landmarks for orotracheal intubation

Ruggedized eyes can be manually rotated to simulate a dilated or pinpoint pupil - indicating a
Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), drug overdose, or exposure to nerve agents

Oral airway cavity (with teeth and tongue) for oropharyngeal intubation

Nasal passageways for nasopharyngeal intubation

User selectable airway obstruction at the nose or throat to cue for surgical cric

Simulated cricothyroidotomy with larynx, and single and multiple use replaceable skin plugs

Reinforced silicone arms with articulating shoulders that provide full arm rotation

IV training site with flash cue at the arm

Realistic manubrium allows intraosseous (I/O) training with fluid infusion

Interactive needle decompression training sites (full size 3.25” 14 gauge needle) with replaceable
multi-use skin plugs and pleural membranes

Ruggedized Remote Control with real-time training validation and feedback

Simulated gunshot entrance and exit wounds - front and back


2-way Communication (TWC) audio system allows trainer to speak through the simulator
Available option: Interchangeable arms
