How do we use conjunctions in writing? 3. How can you find conjunctions within poetry and other text? TEKS/Essence Statements: 5.20) Oral and Written Conventions/Conventions. Students understand the function of and use the conventions of academic language when speaking and writing. Students continue to apply earlier standards with greater complexity. Activity 2Discuss and model the use of the 4 Corners Vocabulary template for the word conjunction. Activity 3Next, review what was learned from the previous activities. Discuss what was learned from the video. Assessment: • Level 3- The student will determine one important idea from the YouTube video about conjunctions. • Level 2- When provided with choices, the student will identify one important idea from the YouTube video about conjunctions. • Level 1- The student will acknowledge the YouTube video Conjunctions Junction…Best School House Rock. Activity 4Then, review what was learned from the previous activities. Create an anchor chart about conjunctions. Discuss what they are and how they are used. Assessment: • Level 3- The student will determine one important idea for the anchor chart. • Level 2- When provided with choices, the student will identify one important idea for the anchor chart. • Level 1- The student will acknowledge the anchor chart. Activity 5Finally, it is time for the students to practice combining sentence on their own. Model and create a few sentences to combine. Work with the students to create their own sentences to combine. Assessment: • Level 3- The student will generate one combination sentences using a conjunction. • Level 2- When provided with choices, the student will complete one combination sentence which uses a conjunction.
