Pandas
What animals eat bamboo and live in
China? Pandas of course! Pandas have black
patches around their eyes. They have a black
nose. Panda’s fur feels oily, like sheep’s wool.
Pandas have a few sharp teeth but they only
use those teeth to help them chew bamboo.
The panda is native to China but lives in a
much smaller region than they once inhabited.
Pandas are only found in the undisturbed
mountain forests of some parts of central
China. More specifically, their habitat is the
bamboo forests of the Tibetan plateau and
southwest China 4,000 to 12,000 feet above
sea level.
Pandas eat bamboo. A panda’s daily menu
consent’s almost entirely of the leaves, stems,
and various bamboo species. A panda’s diet is
99% bamboo, 13kg (30Ibs) or more a day-that is
estimated to be 3,500 bamboos stalks a day!
Bamboo doesn’t provide much energy, so
pandas have to keep eating for 12 hours a day.
Pandas are herbivores so they don’t have prey.
These are all of panda’s predator’s jackals,
leopards, and yellow throated martens. Keep in
mind those aren’t pandas only predators there
other predator are humans!
Pandas are endangered because people
kill pandas for their fur. People kill pandas for
their fur for blankets and rugs. Plus people eat
pandas. There are only about 1,000 pandas
living in the wild today. In the mid 1970’s many
pandas died because of starvation because of a
wide spread of bamboo dieback.
Here are some fun facts about pandas
