It is a little “box” set up in someone’s yard where people from the surrounding area can come and pick up a book to read. They can get a book and leave a book. No membership, fees, or anything like that is required. The Free Little Library is a worldwide movement. The goal is to promote literacy and love of reading by building free book exchanges worldwide. (http://littlefreelibrary.org/ourhistory/) Anyone can stop and pick up a book or two and leave a book or two to share. It is my hope that it will also be a great gathering place for the neighborhood/area it is placed in. Building the Little Library “box” also makes a great Eagle Scout project! This is just one way to foster literacy, reading and community spirit. I am so excited to have been asked to participate in this project! I have my “charter” and a cute sign to put on “my” Free Little Library. I will place this one somewhere in the south end of Utah County, in an area that is mostly rural. I feel strongly that children especially need easy access to reading materials. UELMA Thanks you for your generous donations towards our 2015 Service Project! 16
