PRODUCTS FOR CHEMICAL PROCESSING INTERLOCKING PATENT PENDING CERAMIC BLOCKS FOR FAST INSTALLATION AND SUPERIOR STRUCTURAL STABILITY Blasch StaBlox ™ Tunnel System INTRODUCING A NEW, MORE RELIABLE APPROACH TO REFORMER FLUE GAS TUNNELS The Blasch StaBlox Tunnel System is a versatile, mechanically stable system consisting of a series of stackable, interlocking blocks. The StaBlox system allows for an extremely fast, easy installation while at the same time offering a much higher level of reliability with customizable blocks and highly engineered, mortar free expansion joints. w w w. b l a s c h c e r a m i c s . c o m With our StaBlox system, we have applied new patent pending technology to an age-old problem. Unlike traditional reformer flue gas tunnels which will typically fail as a result of multiple thermal cycles and poorly performing expansion joints to accommodate the thermal growth, the StaBlox system was designed to fit together effortlessly in a mortar free assembly that will easily and accurately accommodate for any anticipated thermal growth. The unique geometry and advanced mating features of the blocks in the base, walls, tie-rods, and structural lid of the Blasch StaBlox Tunnel System reduce the installation time to less than one-third traditional brick. Highly engineered designs allow the weight of the tunnels to be reduced by up to 75% while maintaining structural integrity. All of the Blasch StaBlox components are fully customizable allowing them to fit any situation or unit. The same base material and distributed expansion technology behind the StaBlox system has been saving Blasch customers money in various high temperature combustion applications for decades. 580 Broadway • Albany, NY 12204 • Phone 518-436-1263 • Fax 518-436-0098 208-2/0216 PRODUCTS FOR CHEMICAL PROCESSING STABLOX FLUE GAS TUNNEL SYSTEM The StaBlox™ system utilizes five core tunnel construction compo5 nents. The construction begins with a (1) base component that spans 2 the bottom of the tun4 nel and mates to the 3 (2) side wall blocks. Each block contains two 4.5” diameter openings. An (3) orifice insert with an engineered inside diameter 1 is installed in each opening. In addition, these openings can hold ancillary parts such as (4) tie-rods which connect the two tunnel walls and replace buttresses as a support structure. These tie-rods can easily be removed and replaced during outages to allow easy access down the tunnel interior for inspection or repairs. At the top of the tunnel is a (5) light weight lid that mates to the side walls. SYSTEM ADVANTAGES • Even heating results in longer tube life • Orifice inserts allow for easy open area distribution redesign and greater process flexibility • Narrow tunnel cross section design reduces pressure drop • More consistent gas velocity along tunnel results in longer tube life • Lower mass means less heat storage and more even cooling PATENTED TOP™ FLOW MODELING Tunnel Optimization Program allows for near uniform incremental flow along each tunnel length and lets the operator “fine tune” their furnace for optimal performance 580 Broadway • Albany, NY 12204 • Phone 518-436-1263 • Fax 518-436-0098 w w w. b l a s c h c e r a m i c s . c o m
