HOMECOMING
SPIRIT
OCTOBER 2016 EDITION
The Bay City Western
High School Homecoming Parade is a highlight of the week of festivities surrounding the
Homecoming
Spirit
Week.
This year’s
theme was anything
Pixar and the Auburn
Elementary PTO was
fully engaged.
TIER I, II & III
The Tiered instructional intervention model used at Auburn Elementary individualizes student learning goals by focusing our
staff on informal and formal student achievement data to identify
areas of student academic strengths and weakness.
Through prescribed content and instructional practices within the
classrooms and grouping of students, teachers will target individual student needs
with guided group intervention strategies to increase achievement for all students.
To learn more about our Tiered instructional model please contact your child’s
classroom teacher or Laural Triebel, Content & Instruction Coach, at (989) 6624921; extension #2111, or [email protected].

MEET MISS. PAVLAWK
Hello! My name is Jenna Pavlawk. I
am a Kindergarten teacher new to
Auburn Elementary this year. Prior to
coming to Auburn Elementary I
taught GSRP Preschool at Washington Elementary in Bay City for 4
years.
I grew up in Munger and graduated
from Bay City Central High School in
Bay City. I’m becoming a fan of the
Western side of the district though. I
attended Saginaw Valley State University where I earned an Elementary
Education Degree with endorsements
in Early Childhood Education and Mathematics.
I am very excited
to be a part of the
Kindergarten team
of teachers and
the Auburn Elementary
School
community.
In my free time I enjoy bike
riding, watching movies and
spending time with family
and friends. I also love a
good game of “Spoons” or
“Euchre”!
My
favorite
book is The
Kite Runner by
Khaled
Housseni.

ARRIVAL & DIMISSAL PARKING
Parking can be very challenging
when students arrive or are dismissed from school.
The school
parking lot is very small and there is
no additional space for it to grow into
a bigger one. To avoid excess traffic
around the school, we recommend
that you to allow your child to ride the
school bus to and from school each
day if this option is available to you.
It is a safe form of transportation and

students get front door
drop-off and pick-up service at school.
If you plan to provide
transportation to and from
school for your child,
please use the designated express drop-off lane
in the a.m. or park your
car in the lined spaces in
the parking lot.

ATTITUDE DETERMINES ALTITUDE
A BCPS Elementary Student Code of
Conduct Handbook has been distributed to parents and children to provide information regarding the school
discipline, technology and transportation policies of the Bay City Public
Schools.
School Discipline: School personnel
will work with children not following
the expected behaviors outlined in
the handbook. A conference may be
requested to discuss the academic
and social issues related to your
child’s performance at school. In
some cases, following corrective interventions, disciplinary action may be
required. To schedule an appointment
to discuss concerns, please contact
your child’s teacher or the school office.
Technology: In order for students to
use technology within the Bay City
Public Schools, the BCPS Student
Code of Conduct must be signed. Students will not be permitted to use computers at school if there is a mis-use of
technology at school.
Transportation: It is the policy of the
Bay City Public Schools to provide
safe, courteous, and consistent transportation services to eligible school
age children. If a student’s behavior
does not improve after several
prompts, the privilege of being transported
to
school
by
school
bus

extreme cases, terminated. The largest pumpkin

The Auburn Elementary Girl’s
on the Run program is beginning it’s second year with 45
girls participating and a waiting
list of girls wanting to participate. By far, the response to
this program at Auburn Elementary has the Saginaw
Bay
Chapter leaders of GOTR taking notice.
Led by teacher facilitator, Dan-
ielle Zieroff, and a number of
staff and parent volunteers
the girls meet twice a week
after school.
There are misconceptions
that the program is a running
program. It actually is a program designed to support
girls through healthy social,
emotional, mental and physical development over a 10
week session. Throughout the
sessions the girls build confidence, celebrate all that makes
them unique and they also make
new friends.

GOTR Saginaw Bay, visit their
website

LOST & FOUND
The Auburn Elementary Lost and
