There is currently an issue copying and pasting from Word into Blackboard that many of you might be experiencing. There does not seem to be a pattern so we have escalated the issue to Blackboard. Please update Java to the latest version as Blackboard is a Java based system. To do this, click on the Do I have Java link on this site. http://www.java.com/en/ If there is a newer version of Java, follow the directions to get the most recent version downloaded. If this does not resolve the issue, please use the following work around. This will also need to be done to initial posts that have already been submitted and have replies from other students with no content in them. Using this method should reveal the replies listed below the initial post. 1. Create a new thread or reply in your course discussion board. 2. Click on the HTML icon. 3. Copy your post in Word. 4. Paste the post into the HTML box. 5. Click on the update button and format your post in the message area (add appropriate spacing, breaks, paragraphs etc). 6. Click Submit. As a reminder, we do not recommend copying from Word into Blackboard as many users have experienced problems viewing text that has been pasted in this manner. Copying from Word into Blackboard can also cause other student’s posts to appear as blank submissions. Instead we strongly recommend copying a post you have typed up in Blackboard into a Word document prior to submitting. This will allow you to format the post from within Blackboard but also have a saved copy in Word should the post not submit properly.
