After consultation with the students, parents and teachers, the following
hair rules were adapted:
Boys:

No hair products that will change the texture of the hair, such as S-curl
or straighteners or hair relaxants.

No dread locks

A “Fade” cut is allowed, but no “Mohawk” or High Top Fade.

Hair may not be longer than 2.5 cm

“Afro” hairstyle is allowed, but hair may not be longer than 2.5 cm.

No lines or rails can be cut or shaved into the hair.

No braiding or weaving.

No hair colouring. Only natural hair colour

No beards or moustaches are allowed

Side burns may reach halfway down the length of your ears.

No jewellery allowed for the boys
Girls:

Girls may use hair products in their hair

Girls may only use dark brown or natural hair colour.

No two different hair colours in your hair.

Hair should not be in the face, or over the eye brows

If your hair is long enough to touch your school collar, or is in your eyes,
you must wear a hair band and hair clips.

Hair should not be so long as to block the view of learners sitting behind
you.

Plaited hair must be neat, you may wear a different style of plaiting on
the top of your head, on the condition that it complements the school
uniform

Afro hair is allowed, see number 4, 5 and 6.

Girls may shave one, single straight parting line on the side of their
heads or in the middle.
EXAMPLES FOR BOYS’ HAIRSTYLES:
The Fade:
1.
Unacceptable—No dreadlocks.
2.
The fade is acceptable, but the hair at the top
may not be longer than 2.5cm.
Ideal fade style for boys, hair is not too
long at top.
Also acceptable.
This is not acceptable; the hair on top of
the head is too long.
This is an example of an acceptable hair style. Hair
is not too long, it is neat and combed.
EXAMPLES OF HAIRSTYLES FOR GIRLS:
Hair is acceptable, not so long that learners behind her won’t be able to see the whiteboard,
hair kept out of the face.
Perfect! Hair is kept out of face with a
hair band.
Acceptable; hair is kept out of the
face with a hair clip.
Perfectly acceptable dreads, dreads are thin and neatly maintained. Note that it is
neatly tied and kept out of the face. Same style viewed also from the side.

Chess Championships in Boksburg from 15 to

On the 10th of September, Linda Chidi was a delegate at the semi-finals of “Miss Beauty World International”, held at the Fairview Hotel, Tzaneen.
With her outstanding performance, she won the
title of First Princess and received the honour and
opportunity to represent South Africa at the final
of the prestigious international contest “Beauty
Word International 2017” at the Caribbean Island
from the 1st to the 8th of September 2017. This
prestige event brings together delegates from Europe, Asia, Central and South America and the
Caribbean.

Northern Academy u/19 defeated log leaders Nylstroom, by 6 wickets.
Congratulations to Wayne and his team!
NA U/15 won Tom Naude by 7 wickets.
On Friday,23 September, members of the senior debating
team participated in the MYSA corruption Watch debate
competition.
The team won the competition as best team,
Chico Vicente won the award for best speaker and Gail
Nkadimeng won the award for best policy essay.

Cansa Relay for Life takes place on 7 October 2016 at
the Peter Mokaba Stadium.

It is that time of the year again and we need to complete the
applications forms for 2017. These documents will be handed out on the 30 September with their progress report.
Please make sure to complete the documents and send it
back to the school with the needed supporting documents
to enable registration for 2017.
3 under 16 and 2 under 15 boys were selected by Vodacom football scouters to join other soccer young stars in the boot camp from
different provinces. This will take place at
Pretoria high performance center, TUKS from
25 September until 2 October 2016.
VODACOM is going to take full responsibility
of accommodation and meals, transport and
clothing’s.
