AP Literature
1. Read The Poisonwood Bible. Focus your annotations on character development. Your goal is to discover what influences/changes
each girl to make the decisions she does. Annotations will be checked the first week of school. Annotate the text while reading,
carefully considering characters in the novel, especially as they become archetypes for ideas. Bring your annotated text with you on
the first day of school.
2. Read the following chapters from How to Read Literature Like a Professor, Revised Edition. Annotate the text for main
ideas/suggestions for what to look for while reading literature. Our classwork during the first few weeks will be based off these
chapters, and others assigned when school begins, and you will be expected to have a copy of the book in class.
Please note, the previous version, while similar, is lacking some of the new chapters. Be sure to have the revised edition.
