COMMUNITY NEWS
“Delia Elks and Royal Purple proudly present cheque for $5000 to Friends
of the Sunshine Lodge Committee”
Ed requests that you please bag
and tie your garbage. Loose
garbage does not always make it
into the truck if the wind is
blowing. Also, he would appreciate
it if your bags are not too heavy
 Thank you
On Tuesday March 19th a presentation was made to the Activity Director at the
Sunshine/Hillview Lodge in the amount of $5,000.00 by the Delia Elks and Royal
Purple who are proud to be able to support seniors that are cared for in the Delia
and Drumheller areas. The funds made available through casinos, bingos and
breakfasts operated by the Delia Elks and Royal Purple are used throughout our
communities for the betterment of people of all ages. The specific project for this
funding will be used to
improve the sound
system in the Sunshine
Lodge so activities, announcements and entertainment can be better heard
throughout the building. The Friends of the Sunshine Lodge are a committee
that was formed in 2005 to assist with the raising of funds to better the quality
of life for seniors both in the Hillview and Sunshine Lodges. The Delia Elks
and Royal Purple are pleased to be a participant with them to accomplish this
goal.

LAND USE ORDER AMENDMENT – PUBLIC HEARING
The Council of the Village of Delia has given first reading to Bylaw #603-13, Land Use Order Amendment, on Wednesday, March 20,

IMPORTANT NOTICE
Village Council has approved a motion to rescind Bylaw #293 – A Centennial Project. This Bylaw covers the property located on 2nd
Avenue West which has the park with the arbor, bench, picnic table and flower containers. Bylaw #293 was passed in 1965 which
stated that the Village would purchase and maintain the property for a Centennial Park. The Bylaw states “that the title to the property
on which the said Project will be located shall be acquired by the Village and shall not thereafter be sold or otherwise disposed of.”
Council feels that this property could be put to better use as a residential lot that will increase our assessment and annual tax income
and they do have the authority to rescind this Bylaw. Further, Council feels that the furnishings are utilized little in their current location
and the park is underappreciated.
This Council has been approached by the Delia & District Historical Society to remove the furnishings from that location and place them
on the museum property located on Main Street. They will then create an area so that these items can be enjoyed by tourists and
residents alike.
If you object to Council rescinding this Bylaw, they would like to hear from you. Please call Mayor Rogers at 403-364-3919, Deputy
Mayor Collins at 403-364-2264 or Councillor Thordarson at 403-364-3301 if you would like to make any comments in this matter.
A copy of the Bylaw #293 is available for viewing at anytime during office hours, 9am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday.
